New F4: when will MV return to competition? ?
After its 990R and 1090RR roadsters, MV Agusta unveils the new version of its F4: the photos of the new bike are long overdue, but the technical data gives hope that the Italian sportswoman will face the other Superbikes.. Presentation.
You might as well warn us right away: MV Agusta has only given us one photo of its new F4 … We will therefore have to wait for the next EICMA Motor Show in Milan – which will open these doors on November 9 – to see all of this latest italian production !

After having presented his new 990R and 1090RR roadsters in great detail (read), MV is therefore content to offer us a nice view of the rear end of his famous Superbike. But this unique shot is not without interest !
One has the sudden impression that, if the Tamburini spirit remains, the shapes of the F4 are evolving – who said "finally"? – towards an apparently more angular style, towards a plastic with sharper shapes and more marked angles. The four now rectangular jar outlets seem to confirm this impression.
But it will only be next week that we will know if these noticeable changes to the mufflers, as well as the acquisition of small white indicators and new vents, are the main cosmetic evolutions made to this Superbike. MV announces "new Xenon optics and new super light fairing". Patience…
On the performance side, however, MV Agusta proudly announces that the in-line 4-cylinder of the new F4 develops 186 horsepower at 12,900 rpm. That is 4 less than the last version of the F4 – the RR 312 – presented two years ago in Milan (read) … The Italians would they have crashed in their development or on their press release ?
Never mind: the maximum engine power is indeed increasing! Indeed, the 2010 F4 is equipped with the 998 cc, and not the 1078 cc of the RR 312. Thus compared to the R312 of 2007, the new F4 has 3 additional horsepower which it will seek 500 revs higher..
In addition, MV Agusta specifies that its Superbike is equipped with the most advanced electronic systems: "dual injector per cylinder, variable intake system, anti-dribble clutch and TC MK II traction control offering 8 levels of adjustment", without forgetting the famous" radial valves ".
Side cycle, the manufacturer assures us that the chassis reaches a level of compactness never reached and that the single-sided swingarm lengthens while losing weight … But the opposite would have been surprising !
In the end, what to draw from this information? That the new F4 will undoubtedly be the worthy heir to the 750S, 1000S, 1000R and R312 … and that the choice on the part of MV Agusta to keep the displacement of its new 2010 model at less than 1000 cc allows it still to register for the Superbike championships !
Despite the recent abandonment by Harley-Davidson (read), could the prestigious Italian brand enter the competition? To believe the presentation of this new model, MV Agusta would have its place. !
Unfortunately, our transalpine interlocutors answered in the negative: "MV will not participate in the 2010 World Superbike Championship". Too bad, the adventure of a certain Luca Scassa had started very well.
