The American manufacturer Victory (Polaris group) announces the imminent arrival of a new rather muscular motorcycle – undoubtedly of the power cruiser type – in a short and not very revealing video of teasing … Named "Octane", this new 2016 will be propelled by a V-twin 1200cc a priori unprecedented.

3 prototypes to introduce a novelty

Scheduled for February 19, 2016, the official presentation of this new Victory will mark the last stage of a promotional campaign started last summer by the concept produced with the Californian preparer Roland Sands, Project 156.

Visually appealing with its sporty appearance, as if concentrated around the big v-twin, this proto had stood out by lining up at Pikes Peak. The 156 turns of this mythical hill climb are also the origin of the name of this motorcycle with the appearance of a roadster..

Unfortunately, this media stunt (the custom builders involved in Pikes Peak are not legion!) Took a lead in the wing from the first reconnaissance tests, after the pilot left the road at the end of which the Project 156 came out copiously crumpled, compression-style by the French sculptor Cesar (montage below) !

A few months later, Victory unveils two other concepts in the same rather muscular style: the Ignition produced by the Swiss craftsman Irs Erbacher and presented at the EICMA in Milan (Italy), followed in early December by the Combustion designed by Zach Ness. , son of famous American trainer Arlen Ness (below).

The Octane would therefore be the result of these three different experiments: probably a new motorcycle typed "muscle bike" equipped with fairly sporty peripherals (large inverted fork, radial brake calipers, XXL format frame, etc.). Something between the Ducati Diavel and the Harley-Davidson V-Rod, for example…

Unfortunately, its teasing video reveals little information about its characteristics and lines, except that a rear light can be seen very briefly in the form of a double row of vertical LEDs. Suffice to say that the octane indices are rather low…

An Octane developed around the Scout twin ?

The only certainty at this stage is that this new Octane will be powered by a V-twin open at 60 °, 4 valves per cylinder and cooled by water. Announced very powerful, this big v-twin admits some 1200 cc of displacement … and strangely resembles the powerful engine of the (100 hp and 97.7 Nm), in any case on the prototypes presented so far !

Remember that Victory is a custom brand launched by the powerful Polaris group, which also owns the. From there to imagine that a transfer of technologies – in particular mechanical ones – has been put in place to develop Octane, there is only one step…

Confirmation or denial of this possibility on February 19 on MNC: stay tuned !
