News - Victory unveils its Empulse TT electric motorcycle (Brammo) - Victory, a new trendy American brand

Created from scratch by Polaris in 1998, Victory relies on the expertise of Brammo – another brand of the Polaris group – to launch an electric motorcycle. Called Empulse TT, it will be marketed at the end of 2015 on American soil. In 2016 in France ?

Victory, a new trendy American brand

As per the "very big boss" of the Polaris Industries group, the Spirit Lake (Iowa) plant is doing well "start manufacturing electric motorcycles in the second half of 2015The first model, named Empulse TT, just unveiled at the Victory North American Dealer Convention.

Bikers who keep up to date with electric two-wheeler news will have already guessed or will quickly discover by observing the photos (see our) that this new Victory is in fact a rebadged…

Empulse Tourist Trophy

"The Empulse TT continues the tradition of Victory Motorcycles by providing a performance product: we have always been known for the great handling and performance of our vehicles.", insists Gary Gray, Product Manager at Victory.

The choice of the suffix TT thus evokes the participation of Victory in the. Riding the Brammo Victory racing prototype, Lee Johnston finished, less than 20 seconds behind "King of the Moutain" John McGuinness. A great performance, CQFD.

"The Victory Empulse TT has DNA from the Brammo Empulse R", do not hide the American engineers."The improved battery capacity, function controller and handling were all developed by the engineers of Victory Motorcycles combining their efforts with the Brammo team."(both brands).

Between the technical sheet communicated by Victory (see) and that of Brammo, the differences are rare: battery capacity increased by 0.2 kWh, charging time extended by 24 minutes (from 3.5 to 3.9 hours in level 2, still 8 hours in level 1), maximum torque of 82 Nm (63 for the standard Brammo and 90 for the "R"), top speed rounded off to "more than 100 mph" (161 km / h) instead of 110 (177 km / h)…

Critical point for electric motorcycles, "the average range is between 105 and 161 km", Victory announces before specifying that"the first tests indicate a range of 152 km in the city"… As long as you don’t over-whip the 54 horsepower of the engine, no doubt !

In its press release, the Spirit Lake firm emphasizes that its motorcycle receives "new aluminum rims, offering the best lean angle for an electric motorcycle". In the photo for now, we note that they seem lighter. The rear wheel is thinner: 4.5 inches rim against 5.5 on that of Craig" Brammo "Bramscher and tire of 160/60 ( Vs 180/55).

Despite this small modification, the weight of the electric motorcycle remains unchanged (213 kg). This is not surprising, given that the Victory Empulse TT scrupulously takes the parts and characteristics of its signed and sticked Brammo siblings. !

We thus find the "Brammo Power Lithium Ion" battery, the asynchronous electric motor, Eco or Sport modes, the six-speed gearbox (with neutral between 2 and 3, the latter being able to be used to do everything without disengaging), the adjustable suspensions of the R, the disc brakes and Brembo calipers, the regenerative charge (reminiscent of the engine brake), the same dashboard, etc..

In its accessories catalog, Victory logically highlights its bubbles (low or high) and its pair of Givi suitcases, to which its Bagger or Touring customers will be sensitive. The Iowa-based brand also offers a high performance fork and protective pads that might interest its Cruiser fans….

Will American bikers be tempted by this "new" Victory? We will find out soon, since the Empulse TT must land in the dealerships "by the end of 2015"(by the way, Victory does the interior at), at a price that will necessarily be between that of the Empulse ($ 16,995) and that of the R version ($ 18,995).

Asked by Site, Victory France informs us that "marketing in Europe is currently under study", but the subsidiary does not know if the motorcycle will be exhibited – tested?! – at the next Paris Motor Show."We don’t have the information yet, but it would be a nice surprise"… and above all, a good way to see if the current goes with the" Frenchies ". To be continued on MNC: stay tuned !
