News - New motorcycles 2017: to be discovered at the Intermot and Eicma exhibitions -

The future models of motorcycles and scooters will be unveiled at the two major trade fairs this fall 2016: at the Intermot in Cologne (Germany) then at the Eicma in Milan (Italy). The first takes stock of its own new products, the second advertises…

Alternating with the Paris motorcycle show which takes place at Porte de Versailles in odd years (read our), the Cologne Intermot show will allow bikers to discover the first .

Organized at Koelnmess from 5 to 9 October 2016, the next German fair announces an innovative 2016 edition … As always, the stars of the vast exhibition (approximately 110,000 m2 under the halls and 80,000 m2 in the open air) will be the new ones. models of "motorcycles, scooters, electric bicycles, electric and combustion engines, trailers and sidecars, components and accessories for motorized two-wheelers, engines and spare parts, electrical equipment, outfits and equipment for two-wheeler drivers motor vehicles, tools, equipment for garages and shops, lubricants and maintenance products as well as tourist and leisure offers for bikers ", list the organizers.

Intermot 2016, October 5 to 9, 2016

But to entertain visitors and increase their number, the Germans have planned this year to focus on four themes, the main one of which is, not surprisingly, that of customization. And this section will not be reserved for American machines, "naturlich"…

"In addition to everything related to V2 engine customs, it is in hall 10.1 that the New Wave Custom scene is presented which revolves around Cafe Racer motorcycles and models transformed in a modern optic", we expect to Cologne.

Major manufacturers will exhibit their "neo-retro" (BMW, Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki, Triumph, Yamaha in particular), but we also expect Boss Hoss, Walzwerk Racing, Fred Kodlin, No Limit Custom and Hells Kitchen Choppers. In terms of equipment and parts, Nolan, Rusty Pistons, the Craftrad Concept Store, Custom Chrome Europe, Motorcycle Storehouse or even Detlev Louis will also be there.

Next to the traditional podiums on which the various – and very varied – creations of the builders and customization workshops will climb, a "Garage Area" will allow professionals to work under the attentive – even admiring – gaze of the public..

"They will explain and show how to replace in the rules of the art footrests, handlebars, headlights, mirrors or how to hammer and adapt a tank", specify the organizers of Intermot 2016. "There will even be a paint booth mobile".

Preparers will thus be able to demonstrate the full extent of their talents, provide some advice or tips … and fill their order books, "warum nicht" ?! Some will also line up for the "Essenza" competition which will combine drag racing over 1/8 mile and beauty contest..

Equally essential, electromobility will be the second major theme of the German show. Like that of customization, the "e-motion" pole has been redesigned for this new edition: "in line with a perspective of the future", assures the organizer, "it takes the form of an autonomous presentation integrated into the show. ".

"Trade visitors and individuals will thus discover in hall 5.2 the whole world of electromobility on two wheels: all new" pedelecs ", electric bicycles and scooters, innovative electric motors to equip vehicles after the fact and range of accessories complementary ".

A third area will be reserved for quads and mountain bikes, because "it is a kind of obligatory passage to obtain an overview of the market and to get a first idea of this category of products". Like electric vehicles, these close cousins of motorcycles can be tested.

Finally, particularly dear to our neighbors across the Rhine, motorcycle tourism will occupy an entire "Boulevard" in the Intermot, and will be adjacent to the access area of one of the main halls (number 8). Road cars and GTs should benefit from excellent visibility thanks to it.

"Visitors will be able to test the riding positions on different touring motorcycles. Specialists and contributors to the specialist magazine Tourenfahrer will provide information on the motorcycles on display and make suggestions to those with travel plans.".

Eicma 2016, from 10 to 13 November 2016

Postponed to the end of November due to the Universal Expo, the Eicma will return to its usual dates in 2016: the 74th edition of the "largest exhibition in the world for two-wheeler lovers" will be held from 10 to 13 November 2016.

Unlike the biannual shows in Cologne, Paris or Tokyo, the Milan one takes place every autumn: "it has therefore become the inevitable crossroads for the annual presentation of manufacturers", observed the general commissioner of the Paris Motorcycle Show last year ( read our).

The program of the Italian show has not yet been unveiled but the advertising campaign began in March: focused on new products logically absent from the posters – "motorcycles never seen before", headline the organizers! -, it must attract the eye of bikers … but not only !

"This campaign is not only targeting motorcycle owners, but also people who have never imagined themselves motorcyclists", explains Antonello Montante, president of Eicma. "Among other objectives, the Eicma aims to spread the culture of two-wheelers and lead more and more people to approach this world".

In addition to the "passion" which unites many motorcyclists, those in charge of the Italian show highlight the usefulness of motorcycles and scooters: "traditionally symbolizing freedom, they have nowadays acquired a new importance in our cities with congested traffic, constrained by the lack of parking spaces and suffocated by exhaust fumes, a minority of which comes from two-wheelers ".

Will the Milan show manage to highlight the – benefits of -? Will the new formula of the Cologne show fill up with visitors? Answers in October and November on Site: stay connected !
