Suzuki grants a marked update to its 2013: the flagship of Hamamatsu’s maxi-scooter range benefits from a successful facelift, a reworked and more sober engine and an optimized chassis.

Visually, this new Burgman 650 does not contrast with its predecessor: the general line is preserved, just like the massive appearance released by the impressive prow surrounded by mirrors with "automobile" dimensions..

The pencil stroke is however sharper than before, which contributes to rejuvenate the whole. The exhaust also benefits from this preferential treatment.

The on-board console is completely redesigned and now revolves around a counter and an analog tachometer in the middle of which appears a large and digital keypad. This rather well-designed and complete instrumentation (fuel gauge, odometer, clock, engine temperature, two trips, driving mode) now carries an eco-driving indicator as on some Kawasaki motorcycles (,, etc.).

Especially useful with the sequential gearbox fitted as standard on the Burgman 650, this Eco Drive warning light comes on when the engine is in its optimum operating range. This trendy device would help "the pilot to learn the techniques to achieve fuel savings", assure engineers Suz ‘.

Serious engine upgrades

From a mechanical point of view, the 638 cc in-line twin is undergoing serious changes, in particular work on reducing its internal friction and that of its continuously variable transmission which would reduce fuel consumption by 15%..

The tubular-type chassis inherits a new design and some of its parts are refined to nibble on weight. The large wheelbase (1595 mm) is retained, as is the generous suspension travel (110 mm at the front and 100 mm at the rear): the new Burgman should therefore be as stable and comfortable as before. !

Braking is also evolving with redesigned front discs in order to offer better consistency, and a more efficient ABS whose central would be 55% lighter than before..

The Burgman 650 vintage 2013 will be available in white, gray and black in the "from March", assure officials of Suzuki France interviewed by Site in Cologne. Its price is not yet defined but should be "around € 11,000", estimates the French subsidiary..
