Yamaha Yard Built XSR 700 Double-Style from Rough Crafts

One project, two custom bikes

There is one, or rather two new members in the Yard Built program: the Yamaha XSR 700 “Double Style” from Rough Crafts in the two versions “Soil Scorpion” and “Corsa Scorcher”. It is already the second yard-built project by the tuning company from Taiwan.

This time, the tuners from Rough Crafts submitted two models to the Yard Built program. This time the Yamaha became the basis XSR 700 used. For the first Yard Built project "The Guerilla Four", the tuning company from Taiwan converted a Yamaha XJR 1300. Winston Yeh from Rough Crafts couldn’t decide which handlebar to use at the beginning of the project – clip-on or flat handlebars? Without further ado, he decided to use both handlebars and so two new custom bikes were created: the cafe racer "Corsa Scorcher" and the scrambler "Soil Scorpion".

The conversion was implemented in the form of a body kit. This allows suspension elements, wheels, brakes and handlebars to be selected individually. For the realization, the tuners from Rough Crafts designed a bridge that can be combined with the fork and front axle of the YZF-R1 and various wheels and brake components. The X2E shock absorber comes from Shark Factory and can be adjusted electronically by remote control. This means that the setup can be adapted to different surfaces with little effort.

Corsa Scorcher and Soil Scorpion

Yamaha XSR 700 Corsa Scorcher from Rough Crafts:

For the Cafe Racer, Rough Crafts opted for carbon wheels from Rotobox and a clip-on handlebar from Gilles Tooling. The Akrapovic titanium silencer used was originally intended for the YZF-R1. The rear brake caliper and the brake disc come from the original Yamaha XSR 700. The passenger pegs are also from Gilles Tooling. MS Pro supplies the peg system and brake and clutch levers. Most of the other components such as the handles, headlights and fuel caps are from Rough Crafts.

The scrambler variant uses, among other things, an Akrapovic XSR-700 titanium exhaust in tracker style, waterproof air filters from Sprint Filter and brake discs and calipers from Behringer. Most of the other components such as the handlebar are from Rough Crafts.
