XV950 / R: Yamaha bobbers arrive in France !
It’s now official: Yamaha’s two new bobbers will land in September 2013 on the old continent. Baptized Bolt and Bolt R in the United States, they present themselves to us French under the names of XV950 and XV950R.
Yamaha bobbers arrive in France
Unveiled at the beginning of the year by the American subsidiary of Yamaha – and by the Journal moto du Net ((read) -, these two new models are integrated by Yamaha Motor France (YMF) into a new family: that of the "Iconics", which also includes the XJR1300 and the Vmax..
According to YMF, the XV950 and XV950R "unveil a whole new range of Yamaha motorcycles" who "combines the latest technological advances and classic lines, to satisfy pilots who want to rediscover the essence of driving". An entire program !
As expected, the two "made in Iwata" bobbers poke the XVS950A Midnight Star at its 942 cc 60 ° V-twin. But this version of the V-Twin is not only darker, it is also more compact and more efficient..
The air filter may be 15% less bulky than that of the Midnight Star (2.3 liters on the XV950), it fills the mid-range of the V-Twin a little better. With the new exhausts and the refined maps, the mill – air, of course – gains a handful of newton-meters: 79.5 Nm in all in both versions, with or without "R".
The frame retains its double cradle architecture in steel tubes but it is redesigned for the occasion and is "one-piece frame without separate assembly at the rear loopThe elements which are grafted to it all aim at the same objective: to offer to the Yam ‘a clean look, without concession.
As MNC indicated in the presentation of the Bolts, the distinction between the bobber "R" and the "short" bobber from Yamaha is precisely at the level of the cycle part: the two rear shocks of the XV950R each accommodate a separate cylinder – and golden! – to increase their performance.
Available as an option on the XV950, the ABS will be fitted as standard on the "R" version: the price difference will therefore be even higher … Unfortunately, the prices of these motorcycles expected for the next school year remain. to date unknown.
The colors, them, are already announced: "Midnight Black" or "Competition White" for the XV950, "Matt Gray" or "Camo Green" for the XV950R. Technical information concerning these two new products for 2014 is also unveiled: click on the next page to access the complete technical sheet !
