Colorado is in a state close to … hell: gigantic fires are raging in this region of the USA and have just forced the organizers of the Pikes Peak race to postpone their 2012 meeting…

Scheduled for July 8, the 90th edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) has officially been postponed. "We have been advised by the US Forest Service that the conditions are extreme, the progression of the fire cannot be predicted, and access to Pikes Peak is too perilous," reports Tom Osborne, President of the PPIHC Board of Directors.

But the famous race – second in terms of seniority in the United States after the Indianapolis 500! – is not canceled, however: "this event began in 1916 and earned its place among the biggest motorsport events in the world", recalls the mayor of Colorado Springs, Steve Bach.

"We are committed to ensuring that the race is contested this year and that the tradition continues," said the elected American: "we are disappointed, but our first concern is our city, its people, their homes, businesses and public security ".

The organizers must meet again in order to find a new date: "we have started to warn the 211 competitors, some of whom come from 15 foreign nations, the media and the fans". Recall that among the competitors is a French driver of the French rally championship: the Corsican Bruno Langlois !

A Frenchie in the race !

The winner of the last rally (that of South Morvan, read) will therefore have to wait before taking the handlebars of his Streetfighter and hunting for Multistrada which literally appropriated this competition (read).

To allow its readers to also be patient, MNC invites you to watch the official video of the Bologna manufacturer filmed during the 89th edition of PPIHC … Enjoy and stay tuned !
