Bought in 2007 by BMW from the hands of the Italian Claudio Castiglioni (founder of Cagiva and current president of MV Agusta), the Swedish brand Husqvarna is best known for its track record in competition, particularly in off-road and supermotard.

A rich experience put to good use in the development of supermotards intended for "everyday" use (understand: out of competition!) Such as the 640 SM ie, imported into France by the SIMA based in Beaune (21). Switched to injection in 2007 (hence the "ie"), this supermot ‘is less exclusive than its plastic suggests. The Husqvarna has a seat perched high (910 mm!) And narrow, but almost comfortable. Likewise, the high-ranking finish and the supplied on-board console are attractive, especially as these aspects are often neglected in this somewhat confidential category..

The single-cylinder 576.3 cc spits its 45 hp with vigor, but its contained extension (one of the structural limits of a mono) and its short reports force to regularly call on a box which is fortunately precise and easy to live with. With 142.5 kg dry, an incisive chassis, a Marzocchi fork and an imperturbable Sachs shock absorber, the 640 SM ie is certainly a weapon on the road, but it is not the designated companion of the big rollers.
