According to BMW Motorrad, "it cannot be excluded at present that the piston rod of the rear shock absorber presents a risk of breakage on vehicles equipped with the Dynamic ESA option under certain circumstances".
Do not drive until further notice
Therefore, "customers are asked not to ride their motorcycles until further notice," continues the manufacturer, who is known to be very concerned about safety: "this is a precautionary measure taken by BMW Motorrad, but so far no injury related to this defect is known ".

Finally, several readers have informed us that following this letter, their BMW dealer had lent them a motorcycle (or a car) to compensate for the inconvenience caused by the immobilization of their R1200RT..
