199 kilo adventure bike

May we introduce? The Touratech R 1200 GS Rambler. It was made from different BMW models and weighs only 199 kilograms despite the liquid-cooled 1200 cm³ boxer.

The Touratech engine R. 1200 GS Rambler comes from the R 1200 R, the cardan drive from the R 1200 GS. Parts from the F 800 GS were also used. The Rambler is rounded off by various components, most of which are manufactured by Touratech. The result: an extremely light adventure bike weighing just 199 kilograms with the 125 hp BMW boxer engine.

Touratech R 1200 GS Rambler to maintain the weight. The conversion should not be heavier than 200 kilograms with a full tank. The end result shows: the accessories expert from Niedereschach achieved the target with flying colors.

First test drive in Almeria

Touratech only made two copies of the Rambler. More will probably not be added. So if you want to enjoy such a rambler yourself, it will be difficult. After all, essential components from three different BMW motorcycles are required. There are also a large number of other, partly custom-made, external components. Touratech also made use of a number of BMW kits. For example, the rear light for the conversion comes from the kit for the BMW R nineT. A list of all materials used in the Touratech R 1200 GS Rambler can be found further down on this page.

If you want to find out more about the Touratech R 1200 GS Rambler, we recommend the upcoming MOTORRAD edition. Test editor Johannes Muller was allowed to try out the Touratech conversion himself in January 2017 in Almeria and reports on the first trip in the new MOTORRAD 3/2017. The issue will be available from Friday, January 20th, 2017 at the kiosk or digitally here.
