Harley-Davidson plans to launch in 2021 or 2022 a second electric motorcycle that is more affordable than the LiveWire. Also to be continued in dealerships: an original electric scooter and several electrically assisted bicycles (VAE)… Presentation.

Will Harley-Davidson be the first "big" motorcycle manufacturer to make its mark? The answer tends in the affirmative, as unexpected as it may seem for such a conservative brand which, since 1903, has only sworn by big V-twins that generate "good vibes" !

The Milwaukee firm has yet gone to the end of its recently marketed project at a price of 33,900 euros after one. But this elitist tariff restricts its distribution to the most fortunate "trendy" bikers: it is the equivalent of the French star of electric cars, the Renault Zoe (with battery) !

A second electric motorcycle – more affordable – is therefore already in the making and should even land very soon: in 2021 or 2022, according to an internal document unearthed by our American colleagues from the site Less expensive, this new electric motorcycle inspired by the dirt track s is also less massive than the LiveWire roadster.

The number plate on the rear, the flat saddle and the raised handlebars unmistakably hark back to Harley-Davidson’s sporting past, when its famous XR 750 ruled the dirt tracks. The integration of the huge battery under the fake tank is quite successful, while the radiators on the front suggest liquid engine cooling..

Lighter and cheaper ?

This electric thruster differs from the LiveWire "Revelation", which develops 105 hp and 116 Nm for a minimum "158 km", according to H-D. Everything indicates that the performance of this novelty will be lower since it is described as a "Mid Power", in opposition to the LiveWire considered as "High Power" (high power).

The presence of a single front brake disc confirms this less "sporty" orientation than the LiveWire and its two discs topped with Brembo radial calipers. Hopefully this will also translate into a reduction in weight, as the LiveWire still weighs 249 kg "all loads done". !

In terms of the cycle part, this prototype receives an inverted fork, a single-shock absorber in the extended position as well as a long and elegant hollowed-out swing arm, as on the LiveWire. Its mixed tires and short raised rear buckle skillfully reinforce its urban Scrambler look.

Due to the lack of information on recharging times, MNC is counting on capacities for the moment similar to LiveWire: count 15 km of autonomy per hour of charge on a domestic outlet. Yes, it is long! This time can however be reduced with a fast charger at high intensity to reach "0 to 100% in 60 minutes", assures Harley.

A scooter and electric bikes

Finally, the 2021/2022 schedule also includes the electric "scooter" that looks like a scooter already. An amazing vehicle, with high Chopper style handlebars, small wheels and a narrow saddle on the top tube of its minimalist chassis. This prototype awaiting functional lighting at the front would be the entry-level electric H-D since described as "Low Power".

Harley-Davidson also intends to continue its surprising offensive on the front of electrically assisted bicycles (VAE) with bicycles for adults and children positioned high-end: the first models arrive in American dealerships at prices between 2000 and 5000 dollars. !
