Indian giant Hero MotoCorp, which considers itself "the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters", recently launched a new 200cc motorcycle in India, the Hunk 200, which is available for trail or road use and is even used basic to four other new concepts ! Presentation.

Hero MotoCorp, heavyweight in Asian markets with "more than 80 million motorcycles and scooters" produced for 33 years, did not come to (Italy) empty-handed: alongside its new Hunk 200 roadster ("Xtreme 200R" in Asia) were held two new versions of allure trail (XPulse 200) and road (XPulse 200T).

These three bikes get a 199.6 cc air-cooled single cylinder with 18.4 hp and 17.1 Nm, not really modern with its good old kick start and carburettor feed. Despite the presence of LED lighting and ABS, their appearance is also quite classic, not to say utilitarian. This new range will be launched "early 2019", predicts Hero without giving more details.

The platform of these Xtreme 200R, XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T is also the basis for four new concepts revealed by Hero in Milan: Cafe Racer Concept, Desert Concept, Scrambler Concept and Flat-Track Concept. The performance is identical to the production versions described above, only the aesthetics and the peripherals evolve (inverted fork, for example, on the Cafe Racer).

Remember that Hero MotoCorp has long developed with the support of Honda, which had established a joint venture in particular to penetrate the huge domestic market. This collaboration ended in 2010, after 26 years of an association that was a priori profitable to both parties: Hero gained skills and Honda gained access to a large customer base..

Hero is now seeking to expand into all countries, including Europe, as indicated by the upgrading of some of its motorcycles and scooters to Euro4 standards. To improve its image, Hero had the brand Erik Buell Racing (EBR) after yet another bankruptcy of the little one – but very imaginative! – American manufacturer now defunct.
