Racing bike conversion Suzuki B-King

Content of

To turn a B-King into a racing motorcycle, you have to be a little crazy – and know something about motorcycles. Bretters Zweiradshop rose to the challenge and turned the Suzuki B-King into the B-Race.

This Suzuki B-King doesn’t care that light colors don’t make you slim. Provocatively wide, it occupies two motorcycle parking spaces in Hockenheim’s TunerGP box. The monster is waiting to appear at the Circus Maximus, may the games begin. Finally it’s on the track – according to Stallorder Bretter “take two laps slowly” to get to know the peculiarities of his version of the B-King.

Those willing to fight fly past at great speed to the right and left. Everything is easy – there is a sublime feeling on the B-Race called Feger. Everything is in its place, the pilot upright, but sporty, “in” the motorcycle, ready to attack.

D.it is long overdue, the entire field of PS drivers has already flown by for the second time. At the start / finish, the following applies: I tighten the gas cable. A deep rumble of the 1400 engine, released by the stylish carbon rear silencer, signals an attack. The B-Race is powerful. The front wheel climbs instantly and I fire through the gears with the help of the built-in gearshift. This is set to 60 hundredths and allows the gears to slide smoothly, precisely and quickly into one another. The front wheel protrudes neatly into the sky just before the curve.

In order not to hit the stands in the first flying lap, I prefer to put it down and anchor as long as it takes. Unbelievable: Bending down almost goes by itself – and it’s my turn to join the pack. The “Parabolica” lurks two curves further. For maximum propulsion and minimal wheelie inclination, I sit far forward and flood the cylinders, which are optimally filled by two “Powercomander V”. Now the B-Race is really showing its barbaric potential. In no time at all, I pass countless, now frightened, comrades-in-arms in this endless, full-throttle curve. Despite the inclined position, the speedometer shows an unbelievable 298 km / h, because thanks to Bretter’s hand the Suzuki turns neatly into the limiter in the last gear. According to the motto “if you brake later, you are faster for longer” I hold out at full throttle for a short time, then comes the “parachute trick”. For a bike without fairing and a slim pilot, that means: straighten up and defy the Category 7 tornado. Of course, the front brakes are merciless, four gears are stepped back, the clutch is out, the foot brake is lightly applied and the right notch is loaded. Now the box stands wonderfully sideways and in a few moments destroys the entire energy of almost 300 km / h. The anti-hopping clutch regulates the rear wheel cleanly. As a result of the drift, a large part of the curve radius has already been driven at the apex of the 180 degree bend. With the Bretters-B-Race thrust set in, it’s off towards the Mercedes grandstand.

Bilski

There will hardly ever be a wider race bike.

Dear reader, I would like to take it with me on the rest of the turn – but the space … That’s why the highlights of the bike are condensed: Klaus Bretter’s B-Race is one of the most amazing bikes I’ve ever ridden. Race action without big limits, which one never suspects behind an optically rather unsporting B-King. Made possible by excellent tuning, because the bike has no weaknesses in terms of chassis technology. The fork was refined with an Ohlins cartridge. At the rear, the Ohlins damper does a brilliant job. The braking system has been improved with braking fittings and LSL levers. Braking wave discs and rubbers complete the whole thing to form a stable and reliable partner. Even the LSL handlebar and stem have been improved with grub screws to counteract the enormous forces. The bike is perfected by the fitted Conti slicks. The running pattern is homogeneous even after long drifts. The 60 mm cross-section of the rear tire calms the bike down and also gives it more lean angle. The airbox was rebuilt and a K&N air filter fitted. The necessary changes to the injection were implemented by two Powercomander “V”. Here, too, the Bretter team, with their great know-how, gave the otherwise series-produced motor a real boost in performance and, most importantly, made it mobile. The bike is completed with a hand-made stainless steel intermediate piece to integrate the rear silencer – the visual liberation of the B-King. The look is supported by a belly pan and the aggressive color. Hell doesn‘t make you slim. But this orange is a blunt threat: B (retters) -King can proudly bear the title “Race”.
