Report and results of the 2019 French Motorcycle GP (Marquez winner)
Marc Marquez remains on his winning streak at Le Mans (72) with a brilliant success in the dry at the 2019 French Motorcycle GP. The defending champion escaped to win this 300th Honda victory in the premier class ahead of the Ducati of Dovizioso, Petrucci , Miller and Rossi’s Yamaha. Report and rankings.
Marc Marquez’s grip on MotoGP turns into a monopoly after his new demonstration at Le Mans, his second in a row after Jerez and his third in five races with his success in Argentina. Second in Qatar, his performance chart counts for the moment only one hitch: his fall in Texas.
Without this error caused by his haste, the No.93 would already have a considerable lead in the championship and would have left nothing but crumbs for his rivals. And yet the opposition is not lacking, starting with that of the formidable Ducati…

Marc Marquez had a lot to do in the first part of the race with the Desmosedici on the Sarthois track, especially the one – very well – driven by Jack Miller! The Australian has given himself body and soul as usual to hold the high dragee to the bearer of the world crown for a good time.
The fight between these spectacularly styled riders was all the more thrilling as it took place on a track that was difficult to pin down, cool due to the overcast weather and showers the day before (19 ° C). Joan Mir and Karel Abraham paid the price on their warm-up lap, with an irrecoverable escape from their new and cold front tire…
"Peco" puts Viñales to the mat
Francesco Bagnaia was also trapped while re-accelerating on his Ducati, dragging the unfortunate Maverick Viñales into his crash. Second white result for n ° 12, who had already experienced such a misadventure at the Argentinian GP with Morbidelli … Bad luck for the Yamaha official who was however insufficiently swift at this stage to hope to repeat his victory of 2017.
Meanwhile, the Marquez machine was running at full speed: the HRC rider – whose brother Alex also won in Moto2! – got rid of his pursuers at the cost of a constant attack and a few manly overtaking on the Ducatis! Then the No.93 stunned the competition with a series of fast and, above all, very consistent laps..
The Spaniard then managed his lead which climbed to four seconds, leaving Dovizioso and Petrucci to scramble hard for second place. "Petrux" finally fails in the wake of his experienced teammate, happy to get his first podium with the factory bike: "I have no regrets", says the n ° 9 whose bike wore a specific livery for this GP of France.
Philip Morris must be particularly disappointed to have had to withdraw his "Mission Winnow" brand from the Ducatis because of the French anti-smoking law, precisely on the weekend when a double on the podium offers enormous visibility to the sponsors…

"I expected more from this race", confesses for his part "DesmoDovi" who had dominated the debates last year before falling at the head of the race. "The feeling with the track was different over the laps and then Marc had something more".
The rise of Fabio Quartararo
Another driver had something more, unfortunately not exploited early enough to shine at the forefront: Fabio Quartararo, author of the lap record in the race in 1’32.355 and an impressive series in 1’32.5. This rhythm was similar to that of Marc Marquez !
The home favorite is mounting a comeback!
After dropping to 16th at one stage, takes ninth spot from ⚔️

Problem: the rookie of the Petronas-SRT team started badly from his distant 10th place on the grid and then lost time after a slight gap. Fabio then spat in the gloves to return at high speed "V" from 16th place to which he had descended, engaging in the passage in a splendid battle with Jorge Lorenzo.
The 20-year-old from Nice – the youngest poleman in MotoGP since Jerez – finally finished in 8th place in the wake of his teammate Morbidelli, after having taxed the yet experienced Cal Crutchlow at the end of the race !
Rossi 5th, Zarco 13th at 30 seconds…
His compatriot Johann Zarco appears for his part in 13th place in this GP of France, out of only sixteen drivers at the finish: the KTM official only precedes the KTM Tech3 of Syarhin and Oliveira and the Suzuki of Mir, which started again from the stands after his fall in the warm-up lap !
A scarcely flattering result while the French fans were hoping for a boost in these conditions which smooth the performance gaps between motorcycles. The proof with the 6th place of his teammate Pol Espargaro 5.9 sec from the winner, which contrasts with the arrival of Johann at 33.061 sec.
Valentino Rossi for his part recorded 5th position three seconds behind the winner after a race spent in observation behind the second group. Not sharp enough, the Doctor was never able to get involved in the fight for the podium with the Ducatis and finished in Miller’s wake.
MotoGP Championship point (s)
Despite his current clear domination, Marc Marquez does not crush – yet? – the provisional ranking: his counter stands at 95 points, eight ahead of Dovizioso (87) and 20 over Rins (75), who was transparent this weekend and finished 10th.
This man will take some stopping! has that winning feeling once again!
– MotoGP (@MotoGP)
Valentino Rossi is also starting to fall behind the leading duo: the No. 46 is fourth in the provisional with 72 points, three points behind Alex Rins but 23 behind Marquez. Almost a gap victory after just five races contested !
Even more worrying situation for his teammate Maveick Viñales, who only appears in 10th place with 65 points behind the Honda official! "Mack" obviously suffers from the two angry knockouts for which he is not responsible, but also from his absence at the forefront: he only has one podium (in Spain).
Finally, let us point out that with this new success at Le Mans, Marc Marquez joins Jorge Lorenzo in the number of victories in MotoGP: already 47 successes for the young man of 26 years and a total of 72 in the world championship.
Enough to calmly approach the next race, the 2019 Italian GP, which will take place on June 2 on the magnificent Mugello circuit where MNC tested the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory !
