AJP PR7 (2018)
Exotic all-round enduro with SWM engine
With the PR7, the Portuguese manufacturer AJP has an enduro in its range that is said to be particularly characterized by its all-round capabilities.
Long announced, the PR7 is now finally the first larger enduro from the Portuguese manufacturer A.JP on the market. It should appeal to rally drivers, but also travelers who are looking for a light, very off-road motorcycle. According to the importer Crossover Cycles in Olpe, the suspension with its long suspension travel (300 mm front and rear) has already proven itself in a number of rallies.
A luggage rack is in development for the travel group. The combination of the Portuguese studded steering wheel of all-terrain chassis, low weight and single-cylinder power would most likely be comparable to the KTM 640 LC4 Adventure, which has not been available for a long time. However, it had legally homologated a good 50 hp, the PR7 only brings it unthrottled to 52 hp, but then without ABE. The built-in single from SWM with a displacement of 600 cc is based on a Husqvarna engine, and here the Euro 4 only meets the requirements to a limited extent.
The spring elements installed in the AJP PR7 come from Sachs. Dry, it should weigh 148 kilograms. According to the manufacturer, the tank holds 17 liters. The price for the all-round enduro: 10,500 euros (plus additional costs). For all interested parties who would rather use the PR7 for sporting purposes, the manufacturer also offers a sport kit for 830 euros.
Specialized in fun bikes, enduros and supermotos
Not all motorcycle enthusiasts will be familiar with the manufacturer AJP. The brothers Antonio and Jorge Pinto founded the company in 1987 and since then have been producing light off-road motorcycles in Portugal in the style of a classic manufacturer, with quite some sporting success. Eight national championship titles, for example, in the late 1990s.
The manufacturer specializes in fun bikes, enduros and supermotos. AJP currently offers the four models PR3, PR4, PR5 and PR7, which are available in different versions and largely differ in terms of their cubic capacity. The new AJP PR7 with a displacement of 600 cm³ occupies a special position. The remaining bikes are available with 125 cm³, 240 cm³ or 250 cm³ depending on the model.
