Ubco FRX1 electric motorcycle

Lightweight for any terrain

The Ubco FRX1 is an electrically powered off-road bike that aims to score with its light weight. The electric motorcycle can now be pre-ordered.

Slowly but surely, a new market segment for ultra-light and electrically powered “non-competitive off-road bikes” is emerging. At least in the recent past, numerous electric motorcycles such as the Segway or Sur-Ron have appeared that rely on this concept and whose market launch is imminent. The Ubco FRX1, which aims to score points with its very light weight of 60 kilograms, aims in a similar direction. Incidentally, some readers of motorradonline.de might be familiar with the manufacturer Ubco. In 2018 we already had the 2X2 presented a similar, albeit somewhat more rustic, all-wheel drive electric motorcycle from Ubco.

60 kg, 100 km, 8,999 euros

The facts given by the manufacturer about the new Ubco FRX1: The 60 kilogram light off-roader is supposed to achieve up to 80 km / h thanks to its 15 kW electric motor. The range should still be up to 100 kilometers, which should definitely be more than sufficient for off-road excursions. This is made possible by a frame made of aluminum and basic equipment reduced to the essentials. The electric motorcycle from New Zealand is 2,030 millimeters long and 1,120 millimeters high. A hard enduro seat is typically used off-road. The bike can also be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth.

The Ubco FRX1 is said to weigh only 60 kilograms.

The 2.2 kWh battery of the FRX1 should be fully recharged within six hours. According to the manufacturer, the electric off-roader should also be particularly suitable for extreme conditions such as all-terrain mountain climbs. Incidentally, when braking, energy should be recovered. Ubco has also already commented on the price: The New Zealanders are asking for 8,999 euros including shipping to Europe for the FRX1. When pre-ordering, 100 euros must be paid in advance. However, the manufacturer has not yet revealed when the electric motorcycle will be available.

Conclusion

The Ubco FRX1 is a mixture of an electric off-road motorcycle and a mountain bike. We could soon come across motorcycles like the FRX1 quite often, as the concept is apparently very popular, as are other, still largely unknown, manufacturers of similar bikes work.
