Munich startup presents light e-motorcycle

Black Tea is the name of the Munich startup that wants to bring a light electric two-wheeler for legal road use in Europe and the USA to the market with the moped.

"The electric acceleration leaves any sports car behind (at least for the first few meters)", so the makers on blackteamotorbikes.com. Experience has shown that the next red light is already waiting in city traffic. In the first row you should be able to jostle easily with this electric motorcycle. That, in combination with a weight of only 79 kilos – plus ten kilos for the battery – as well as the narrow tires, is almost a guarantee of fun for city traffic and even traffic jams. 80 km / h top speed would be possible, but the Black Tea moped slows down to 45 km / h and is therefore also of interest in Germany for those who only have a car driver’s license. For vehicle class L1e-b in Europe (45 km / h), a class AM or B driving license is sufficient throughout Europe.

3 kW power and 180 Nm maximum torque should accelerate the electric motorcycle from zero to 50 km / h in 4.2 seconds using the wheel hub motor on the rear wheel – theoretically. In practice, it ends at 45 km / h. So throttled, the Black Tea moped should have a range of 70 kilometers in city traffic. The battery can be removed wirelessly and charged at home. It should be fully in the juice again within four hours. For more range, the e-motorcycle also offers space for a second battery. Battery capacity: 72 V x 24.5 Ah.

The seat height is 750 millimeters, it is braked hydraulically, rolled on 18-inch steel-spoke wheels, tires are fitted in dimensions 2.75 (front) and 3.25 (rear), and LED lights all around ensure visibility and visibility.

If you want to try out the moped, the manufacturer offers several appointments.

Test rides take place in the following cities:

  • Munich: July 16/5 to 9 p.m. (Spiridon-Louis-Ring 100)
  • Berlin: July 17th / 5 to 9 p.m. (Tempelhofer Feld)
  • Hamburg: July 18/3 p.m. – 7 p.m. (Heiligengeistfeld)
  • Stuttgart: July 19/3 p.m. – 7 p.m. (Mercedesstrabe 50)

Conclusion

In terms of individual mobility, the trend for city dwellers and commuters is moving noticeably towards electric two-wheelers. The more choice there is of well thought-out concepts, the better. With the Black Tea moped, an e-motorcycle seems to be coming onto the market that could not only convince practically in city traffic, but also look good.
