2nd Rally of the Volcanoes: Manoel Delaval champion of France !
After the withdrawal of Maxime Olivieri following the death of Wilfried Cally, Manoel Delaval had the doors of the 2009 title wide open: Mano did not fail and emerged as the winner of this final ! A rally with a particular layout … Report.
Saturday 10:00 am: start of the first loops
The organization of Auvergne Moto Sport is perfectly timed and the simultaneous departures go off without a hitch. While Monos, Sports, Classics and Sidecars set off on the Western Loop, Topsports set off for the East. And the weather forecast decided to simplify things by offering us a great sun !
In Villemorie, Thomas Garcin on his Moto Morini 1200 Corsaro took the best time, just two tenths ahead of Manoel Delaval on his Buell XB 12 SS! Then come Daniel Blanchon on a Yamaha 600 Fazer and the first Mono, Nicolas Derrien, riding a KTM 690 SM which scores the fourth time. We find the first Sport, Charles Guillot of the CMPN on the handlebars of a Kawasaki 650 ER6, in fifth position less than two seconds from Thomas Garcin.
After the assistance, everyone sets out on the opposite loop. This system of simultaneous loops in the air and if no bad surprises come to stop the machine, this race pattern will be remembered !
The La Forêt special (site of the tragic accident at Wilfired) will finally be shortened by 800 m. Mano sets himself the best time in 1’18”450, thus taking only a tenth from Thomas Garcin, second time in 1’18”585 … It’s going fast, very fast !
The course is superb, alternating narrow and technical passages with wider and rolling ones, and even a passage of a few hundred meters of winding dirt road … All planted in the middle of this scenery of nameless beauty: the volcanoes of Auvergne … We would come back for a walk with the family … but the race continues !
