74th Rallye de l’Ain: one more Ain for Toniutti !
For the second year in a row, Site and official KTM driver Julien Toniutti won the Rallye de l’Ain on his KTM 990 Superduke against the Corsican resistance and after a suspense maintained until the end of the race. ! Report.
One more Ain for Toniutti !
The 74th Rallye de l’Ain, with its still exemplary organization, was once again won by Site rider Julien Toniutti, KTM official riding his KTM 990 Superduke (read). Julien fought until the end of the night to snatch this superb victory from the hands of the leader of the provisional championship, the young Paul-Christian Piazza on KTM 450 EXC, in the last night special.
At the last minute, the authorization for the event was only granted by the Ain prefecture on the condition of prohibiting reconnaissance of specials in two or three motorized wheels or in quad bikes. "Today we are paying for the excesses of some pilots during reconnaissance in recent years"notes Jean-Jacques Guillemoz, president of UM Ain and organizer of the event.
Panic therefore among the pilots who had found themselves as usual on the spot several days before the rally, with as only means of recce their assistance vehicle or a bicycle … Not easy to take marks of braking or other trajectory corner entry! A slight cold therefore weighed on the recognition of the two stages of the route: Ceignes, a brand new special never used by previous rallies, and Challes, already known for a few years..
What does the fact of not having recognized them before the race hold? Is it more dangerous to discover the feeling on the handlebars of a motorcycle during the first passages (which the pilots will force themselves to carry out with caution) than to launch themselves headlong into the blind curves that we have learned by heart the previous days? So many questions that haunt the organizers and the drivers before the start … but we will know more at the end of the rally !
