Road rallies - Beaujolais Rally: Bruno Langlois like at home! - The race

The race

It is therefore the rain that illustrates the start of the 45th Beaujolais Rally on this spring Saturday … The first link is quiet and little effort is needed to complete the 17 minutes of the first time control.

Then it’s special n ° 1, that of the Col du Chêne. Carlo Scanu riding his BMW 450 SX opened the ball in 1’11.87, with 17 hundredths ahead of Daniel Blanchon (Honda 600 Hornet). Benjamin Garniaux (Aprilia 1000 Tuono) finished third in 1’12”52 while Julien Toniutti (official KTM 990 Superduke), who was expected at the front, only obtained the 8th time in (1’14.17.

Rain aside, the following link is very nice: three quarters of an hour of travel on certain inevitable sections of the old Beaujolais route make us enjoy the hilly and green landscapes, always so superb..

The Col de Saint-Bonnet is a usual special of this old rally and the old ones know the slightest gravel … However, it is still a Corsican driver who slams the best time: 2’43.01 for Bruno Langlois on his KTM 690 ! Second time for Jean-François Fayolle (Triumph 1050 Street Triple) in 2’45.29 and third for Franck Coudert (Ducati Multistrada) a hundredth further in 2’45.30.

Last link to complete this first lap: an easy road on the whole, rolling, but it is still raining … For my part, I may be arriving a little too quickly in this nice bend to the left and too close to the right edge of the road … and hop, here I am in the middle of a vine the four irons in the air! This is how your humble Marcus will not finish the day stage…

On the second lap of this big loop, the "mainlanders" wake up: Patrick Curtat sets the best times of the Col du Chêne riding his KTM 990 Supermotard in 1’09.82 ahead of Daniel Blanchon riding his Honda 600 Hornet who gets the second time (1’10.02) and Benjamin Garniaux on Aprilia 1000 Tuono in 1’10.71. Note the superb performance of Nicolas Pautet, the "kid" of the Team Site, pilot of the: while he had slammed a good time (2 hundredths behind Julien Toniutti) on the first pass of this special, here he is now with a fifth time, seven hundredths ahead of his friend Julien’s KTM 990 Superduke !

Saint-Bonnet, second passage: it is no longer raining, the road is starting to dry up in places and Julien Toniutti makes the powder speak for itself with the best times (1’37.86). Behind, Paul Christian Piazza, riding his Husaberg 570 FSE, posted 2’38.23 and Patrick Curtat (KTM 990 Supermotard) was third in 2’38.88.

In the provisional classification of the rally after the daytime stage, it is Patrick Curtat who leads the dance with his KTM 990 Supermotard. Behind, things are jostling: Bruno Langlois is in second position with his KTM 690, only 5 hundredths behind the pilot of the KTM 990 Superduke "KTM France", Julien Toniutti.

The first ten of the day are held in about ten seconds … The night promises to be particularly hot !
