The Spanish solution
The Spanish company Toldos Aragon offers a new technical solution to contain the death toll caused by "safety" barriers in the event of a fall. One more string to the bow yet desperately flaccid of road "prevention"…
Faced with the "biker guillotine" effect of the "automobile safety" barriers, there are no shortage of solutions: "lower biker screen" of the company SEC-Envol, the "Rail-Plast" from Sodilor, the "Moto Tub" of Sodirel and the "Moto Rail" of Solosar, in particular. Only the political choice is sorely lacking, because obviously, such infrastructures cost more and yield less than installing radars in the middle of a straight line. The Spanish company Toldos Aragon nevertheless brings a new stone to the building, with a system of perforated metal curtain placed under the rail so that a slipping body cannot slip inside. The solution also includes additional protection covering the sharp edges of the slide supports. Toldos Aragon also points out that his protections can be used to "prevent small animals from crossing the road, reduce the effect of side wind and, by the white color chosen for the curtain, provide better visibility which can be improved by incorporating a reflective component in the curtain". For its part, the Federation of European Motorcycle Associations (FEMA, the main motorcyclist lobby in Brussels) recalls that all the existing systems, as well as other conclusions of its report on the subject, will be presented at the International Conference on Safety motorcyclists ("International Motorcycle Safety Conference") which will take place at the beginning of March 2001 in Orlando (Florida) on the occasion of the traditional Daytona Week.
