2018 Honda CB1000R: full of horsepower and electronics !
The Honda CB1000R is back – finally! – business in 2018: this complete update touches both the substance – derived from the last Fireblade – and the form, with both classy and classic lines. This new neo-sporty roadster is full of horsepower (145.5 hp) and electronics … while losing ten kilos! Presentation.
Honda insists heavily on this point: this new CB1000R 2018 is not a simple offshoot of its big handlebars, but a whole new concept derived from its project. .

Embodying the meeting point "between the inspirations Sport Naked and Cafe Racer", this bike "looks, drives and behaves very differently from anything we have known before", assures the manufacturer. Diantre, there is a handlebar and two-wheelers, all the same ?!
- MNC of October 26, 2017 : The Honda Neo Sports Cafe project is a very beautiful … concept
- MNC of March 10, 2017 :
From a stylistic point of view, these slightly pompous assertions are in no way usurped: with its fluid and minimalist silhouette, its polished metal parts and its airy saddle, the CB1000R 2018 effectively goes off the beaten track by several generations of "Streetfighter" roadsters with aggressive and tortured lines.
Its swingarm – as on – underlines its elegance, in addition to accommodating for the first time on a Honda the mountings of the deported license plate holder way or .
Its round headlight – LED – and its noticeable seamless tank give it a welcome classic style, in keeping with Honda’s description..
Aesthetically close to the concept presented in 2015 in Milan, this CB1000R 2018 clears ground which is not, however, completely virgin: BMW followed the same type of “neo-retro-sport” approach with its, before Yamaha followed suit. wheel with its, then Kawasaki with its .
- Z900RS 2018:
Technically, Honda’s novelty does not depart from the recipes already known either: its engine is a sober version of that of the, while most of the assistance discovered on the Superbike is installed on the CB1000R. Thus, the roadster inherits an electronic accelerator, three driving modes, traction control and engine brake adjustment..
- MNC test : CBR1000RR 2017: neither gross nor submissive
- Comparo MNC :
Its 998 cc 4-cylinder engine develops 145.5 hp at 10,500 rpm and 105 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, a jump of 20 hp and 6 Nm respectively. Enough to boost it against its compatriots like the , even if Honda assures us that its CB1000R "clearly stands out from the lot of naked roadsters derived from super sports cars and stereotypes". Pan in the gums of the competitors !
At the cycle part level, the biggest developments affect braking – now provided by radial calipers -, the transplant of Showa suspensions (SF-BP inverted fork and no longer telescopic), the extension of the wheelbase by 7 mm (1452 mm) and the passage of the rear tire in 190 mm instead of 180. The frame, of single beam type, remains in steel but is added aluminum plates to reduce the weight of "2.5 kg", ensures Honda.
The position also changes significantly with a handlebars wider by 12 mm and raised by 13 mm and a saddle higher by 5 mm. Finally, the weight stands at 212.7 kg, a drop of "12 kg", calculates the manufacturer, while MNC finds for its part only 10 kg of difference since the previous generation was displayed at 222 kg with ABS…
Finally, note the arrival of a new "CB1000R +", more richly equipped (shifter, aluminum trim, wheel arch, etc.). The price of these CB1000R and CB1000R + is not yet known, but Honda France announces an expected availability "in April 2018".
