New Suzuki Bandit test: the remedy for the crisis ?
Times are hard for everyone … and especially for us, poor French bikers. Fortunately, Suzuki has thought of our portfolio and our pleasure by unveiling this latest version of its legendary Bandit 650.. Comfort test !
Versatile AND fun
The new Bandit has too much stature to be confined solely to the role of a young licensed motorbike or city utility vehicle. She will also be happy to go stretch her cylinders on small roads at weekends, and even go on vacation !
Its mechanics, already very correct in the past, have improved even further since switching to liquid cooling. This new block is a real success in all respects. It manages to be flexible and torquey at the bottom, while showing good reach in the towers: it breaks around 13,000 rpm.
The really consistent pickups shown by the 4-cylinder from 4000 rpm even suggest that it cubs much more than the advertised 656 cm3. Electronic injection is perfectly controlled and does not generate any sudden.
The cycle part has also continued to improve and is now proving very convincing. A little villainous trip with a friend in a Triumph 1050 Speed Triple was enough to convince us that, well taken, this Bandit K9 is a completely credible client in the virolos !
Not the last for arson !
Its front axle, perfectly natural and intuitive, gives you confidence. Despite a tire that is not particularly tender and sporty (Bridgestone BT-011 AV and BT-020 AR), we are very happy to ride the Suzuki.
The shock absorber does its job very well and ensures perfect traction. The 160mm rear tire also contributes to the liveliness of the machine. Stable in large, fast curves but also manoeuvrable and agile in tight, the Bandit will therefore also delight experienced bikers..
Special mention for the braking, bluffing feeling and efficiency for a machine of this price. We really can only praise it !
Cut the road, too !
Apart from the almost zero protection – but perfectible thanks to the adoption of a small nose screen – the Bandit 650 will make a very correct travel companion. The 85 hp 4-cylinder extension allows a cruising speed that your necks will be the first not to handle. The Suzuki even exceeds the 220 km / h counter … but the latter is quite optimistic !
Autonomy and fuel consumption are average. By consuming 5.8 l / 100 km, we can travel nearly 240 km before switching to reserve thanks to the 19-liter tank.
In addition, the duo ride is highly recommended because the passenger is greeted with great respect: relaxed position, comfortable suspension and smooth mechanics … happiness !
