A 115 hp sporty roadster to tease virolo and a 145 hp maxi-trail capable of leaping off the tarmac: this is the astonishing program promised by Harley-Davidson for the end of 2020 with its new 975 Bronx motorcycles cc and Pan America from 1250 cc ! Explanations.

Harley-Davidson did not come empty-handed at the EICMA show in Milan … In addition to its 2020 novelties, the American manufacturer is also exhibiting two motorcycles radically different from its usual customs: a big trail with final chain transmission (yes, yes !) and a muscular roadster which uses a belt.

  • MNC file:
  • MNC of July 30, 2018 : A maxi-trail, a Streetfighter and small cars at Harley-Davidson

These two novelties – for once really "disruptive" – are not unknown: their existence had been revealed during, at the same time as the new liquid-cooled V-twin charged to propel them. This high performance engine is called "Revolution Max" and comes in two displacements: 1250 cc and 975 cc.

Pan America 1250: the American GS !

Its first variation takes place in the tubular chassis of the new Pan America 1250, a trail physically as graceful as a Panzer crossed with the first Versys 1000 (the unforgettable). Harley poses a serious option to integrate our file on with this trail officially scheduled for "end of 2020" !

This spectacular novelty would develop "more than 145 hp" and "more than 122 Nm of torque" thanks to its twin open at 60 °, which also has a balance wheel to fight against vibrations. The Motor Company remains for the moment discreet about its other characteristics, starting with its weight that MNC suspects of evolving between 260 and 280 kg…

Its off-road skills are based on fairly high travel suspensions, a sturdy metal shoe, handguards and spoked rims – on this prototype – with Michelin studded tires. Its adjustable screen without tools – via a knob on the left side – will also count among its assets on the road, as well as its large grab handles.

This Pan America 1250 trail also receives the same Brembo 4-piston radial calipers and the inverted fork that can be found on the new Bronx roadster, exhibited next door in Milan (Italy)…

Bronx 975: bye bye Streetfighter

Discovered last summer under the name of "", Harley-Davidson’s sporty roadster changes its surname to become "Bronx": does the American brand fear the inevitable comparison with the new 208 hp Ducati Streetfighter ?!

Still, this Bronx inherits the same engine as the Pan America above, but with a displacement of 975 cc. Enough to claim promising performance of “over 115 hp” and “over 94 Nm”: for comparison, the bubbling three-cylinder of the 847 cc MT-09 comes out with 115 hp and 87.5 Nm !

Probably, however, the Harley-Davidson roadster does not play exactly in the same register as the nervous Yamaha, of only 193 kg with the refueling! The Bronx 975 should be less "explosive", but not necessarily less playful if its twin delivers the usual sensations specific to Harley mechanics (with the notable exception of the Street 750).

These two new Harley-Davidson models in any case reflect a real desire for change on the part of the American manufacturer, which is already distinguished by its courageous electric approach on its LiveWire. The Milwaukee firm promises that its unpublished Pan America and Bronx will be part of its 2021 vintage, with marketing expected "at the end of 2020".
