Yamaha Tracer 900 "all 9" and Euro5 for 2021 (update)
The third generation of Tracer 900 gets the new 3-cylinder 890 cc to Euro5 standards from the MT-09 roadster, an optimized chassis and sharp electronics. Yamaha supports this transition by renaming its exciting Tracer 9 and Tracer 9 GT sport-road bikes. Presentations.
- Update November 25, 2020 : Yamaha France apologizes for "an error in the prices indicated" and informs us that the Tracer 9 is actually priced at 11,499 euros and the Tracer 9 GT at 13,999 euros (against 10,999 euros and 12,999 euros indicated on November 18).
Launched at the end of 2014 and then redesigned, the Tracer 900 quickly established itself as a benchmark among road sports: this motorcycle as versatile as it is exciting was "three times more sold than its closest rival in 2019", proudly notes Yamaha ! Sharp engine, devilish agility, numerous equipment and low prices explain this deserved success.

The transition to Euro5 standards is an opportunity to improve its strengths, as well as its "GT" variant with its standard cases and additional practical aspects. First change: the name. No longer call them "Tracer 900" and "Tracer 900 GT", but "Tracer 9" and "Tracer 9 GT". Yamaha is definitely having a hard time making up its mind since in its early days the bike was called "MT-09 Tracer" !
This road with a solid temperament offers a new design inspired by the Superbike R1 in terms of its new lenticular optics under its fairing extensions. Headlights, indicators and LED lights contribute to the fresh air brought to its line, as well as its new and original TFT color dashboard split into two 3.5-inch parts.
More efficient, lighter and more expensive !
Engine and cycle parts are not left out since the Tracer 9 and Tracer 9 GT unsurprisingly inherit the bored 3-cylinder 847 to 890 cc discovered on the. This Euro5 unit delivers 119 hp and 93 Nm (+4 hp and + 5.5 Nm) while reducing by “1700 gr” including “1400 gr” on the new exhaust system. Interesting perspectives !
The perimeter aluminum frame also loses weight, as do the new 10-spoke rims (- 700 gr). The Tracer 900 take the opportunity to introduce new calibrations on its inverted 41 mm fork and its mono-shock absorber. Ergonomics also improved thanks to a saddle lowered by 15 mm – adjustable from 810 to 825 mm – as well as footrests adjustable vertically over 15 mm.
The windshield remains manually adjustable to 50mm – 5 positions – while braking is improved via a Nissin radial master cylinder. Finally, like the MT-09 and the R1 (!), The Tracer 9 and Tracer 9 GT receive the complete electronic panoply controlled by the inertia unit on six axes: engine modes (4 instead of 3), traction control and Tilt-sensitive ABS, engine brake, windage and nose-up management.
The GT version is distinguished by the use of Kayaba electronically controlled suspensions, which can adapt continuously to the state of the road and to the various driving phases. This Kayaba Actimatic Damper System (KADS) is also connected to the inertial unit to act on the hydraulics. The Tracer 9 GT also retains its double-acting shifter as standard..
This bike is still equipped with rigid saddlebags – each capable of carrying a "full face helmet", ensures Yamaha -, handguards, heated grips and a regulator (also on Tracer 9 "short") . The GT also shows curved lighting via a LED system provided by the IMU.
Yamaha announces "213 kg" and "220 kg" for its motorcycles of 1500 mm of wheelbase, with the full of 18 liters. The new Tracer 9 and Tracer 9 GT will be available in "March 2021" at a price of respectively 11,499 euros (red or black) and 13,999 euros (gray-black, black or red).
Prices significantly higher compared to the second generation: the Tracer 900 was then exchanged for 10,599 euros (- 900 €) and the Tracer 900 GT against 12,299 euros (- 1700 €!).
