New model with a larger engine?
Is a new variant of the Royal Enfield Himalayan with a larger engine in the starting blocks? Statements by Royal Enfield CEO Siddhartha Lal gave rise to speculation as early as 2019. Now the rumors are growing again.

June 23, 2021
Rumors of a new one are currently circulating on various websites Royal Enfield Himalayan, which is supposed to start with the 648 twin of the two recently introduced Royal Enfield Interceptors and Royal Enfield Continental. The rumors were fueled in early 2019 by statements from Royal Enfield CEO Siddhartha Lal.
Premiere at EICMA 2021?
A premiere of the two-cylinder Enduro at EICMA 2021 in Milan, at which Royal Enfield has already confirmed its participation, would be conceivable. A market launch in Europe could therefore follow in the near future. Royal Enfield followed a similar strategy with other models. Unfortunately, there are no further details at the moment. But there is still speculation about a new name for the two-cylinder enduro. Some time ago, the Indians had the model names Sherpa and Hunter patented.

The new Himalayan takes over the engine from the Royal Enfield Continental?
If the engine is taken over one-to-one from the two familiar bikes, the drive will produce 48 hp at 7,250 rpm and 52 Nm at 5,250 rpm. The Interceptor and the Continental are also equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. For comparison: the 411 cc single cylinder engine of the “normal” Himalayan delivers 25 hp at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The larger motor with more power could meet with open ears from Himalayan fans.

Conclusion
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is practically the old Land Rover Defender among enduro bikes. You can get anywhere with it, but slowly. With the two-cylinder from the street models, the Indian enduro would certainly appeal to an even larger group of customers.
