New model with a larger engine?

Is a new variant of the Royal Enfield Himalayan with a larger engine in the starting blocks? Latest statements from Royal Enfield CEO Siddhartha Lal leave at least some room for speculation.

Rumors of a new one are currently circulating on various websites R.oyal Enfield Himalayan, which is supposed to start with the 648 twin of the two recently introduced Royal Enfield Interceptors and Royal Enfield Continental. The rumors are fueled by statements made by Royal Enfield CEO Siddhartha Lal.

Market launch in India in 2019?

It is also said that the market launch in India should take place this year. A market launch in Europe could follow in the near future. Royal Enfield followed a similar strategy with other models. Unfortunately there are no further details at the moment.

The new Himalayan takes over the engine from the Royal Enfield Continental?

If the engine is taken over one-to-one from the two already known bikes, the drive will produce 47 hp at 7,250 rpm and 52 Nm at 5,250 rpm. The Interceptor and the Continental are also equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. For comparison: the 411 cm³ single cylinder engine of the "normal" Himalayan delivers 24.5 at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4,250 rpm. The larger motor with more power could meet with open ears from Himalayan fans.
