Very good! In fact
The simple Suzuki GSX 750 did not sell badly. Used, on the other hand, is not particularly in demand. But the quality is right. And usually the price too.

Dealer Gerhard Sattler from Stuttgart tries to describe the GSX 750: “The motorcycle is absolutely good! Actually. «Why actually» actually «? Is the motorcycle really good or not? “Yes, yes, absolutely fine. A wider handlebar and steel braided brake lines are already on, just like a crash bar, and with a mileage of just 10,000 kilometers, the Suzuki is still as good as new, ”Sattler advertises the blue 750 on his farm.
Nevertheless, the used machine has been with him for a long time. In February, he had taken the naked woman in payment from a customer who switched to a fully disguised one. They cheerfully equipped with new tires, carried out an inspection and the barely two years old GSX initially offered at the price of 5490 euros shown in the shaky list. The season started. Just not for the Suzuki ?? nobody wanted her. In May, the dealer set the price down to 4999 euros, no longer in a good mood.
In Pfalzgrafenweiler, around 70 kilometers southwest of Stuttgart, Frank Mix from the Motor-Mix motorcycle dealer does his job
Opinion on the naked 750 Suzuki announced: »Can do anything, the performance is sufficient for normal mortals, is reliable. Really a good choice. Actually. ”“ Actually ”again, that irritates a potential buyer. “A really good motorcycle, but it’s all about the price,” continues Mix. Why the Suzuki is not so high in the buyers’ favor, he could not explain. The tank looks kind of weird, but that’s a matter of taste, he thinks. He has already sold four vehicles to France this year, and the French neighbors probably prefer the naked one.
In this country, motorcyclists would really have to go for the inconspicuous GSX-
will come across. In the summer, when more of the running public comes to his shop and sees the Suzuki in person, one or the other can still warm up to the model; at the end of the season, however, it will be tough. Then he won’t actually buy any more. Actually, because the black 1999 from Northern Germany was so cheap that he can pass on a small price. “My strategy: undercutting others when selling, even private ones,” says professional Frank Mix.
The machine had two previous owners, ran 35,900 kilometers, and the dealer took it over in a technically perfect, albeit neglected, condition. He laboriously freed the engine housing of caked-on dirt, and changed the oil, oil filter and candles. I did a customer service and now offers the machine with a one-year warranty for 2600 euros. Despite a small dent and scratches in the tank, it makes a good impression that even a test drive does not spoil. Although the engine is cold, it starts immediately and takes on the gas cleanly. It takes higher speeds with ease, the engine runs excellently. Just as exemplary: the brakes.
While several customers have already shown interest at Mix, Sattler is again correcting the price for its used vehicles at the end of the season. 4790 euros, so he leaves the profit zone. “Next time I’ll think twice about whether I should have a model like that
trade-in. “Nevertheless, the dealer, who sells around 300 motorcycles annually, does not sound desperate, but still optimistic:” There has to be a buyer for this GSX, I’m sure of that. It would have to be someone who knows that he will get a motorcycle without nasty surprises, that is in great shape and will last for years. ”
For the dealers Sattler und Mix one thing is clear: In principle, the GSX 750 can be sold. As a new vehicle, it was good and cheap for many. As used, however, it quickly becomes a slow seller if it is good, but not cheap. Interested parties who are interested in such a slow-moving goods have accordingly a good negotiating position. Certainly not a mistake, because the GSX 750 is really good, not just actually.

Model overview – Suzuki GSX 750
Model history
In the beginning there was the engine. Bred for the super sports car Suzuki GSX-R 750, the 1985 light
saw the world and delighted the knee slider group of that time. 13 years later, no longer fresh enough for great racing successes, he was awarded for ge-
Modified sharpening on the country road and reused in 1998 in the Naked Bike GSX 750.
With a sufficient output of 86 hp at 9500 rpm instead of the 100 hp at 11000 rpm of the
Equipped with the original sports aggregate, the Suzuki should win a following in the bread-and-butter league.
Both the trade press and retailers wondered whether this would succeed, given the fact that bestsellers such as Bandit 600 and 1200 from the same company were already attracting innumerable naked fans. And with the Zephyr 750 and the Seven Fifty, the competition from Kawasaki and Honda had equally pretty, solid and inexpensive machines up their sleeves for the corresponding clientele.
Suzuki’s plan worked, and the GSX 750 sold around 8,000 units from 1998 to the last year of sales, 2003. Most of the vehicles went in
the first three years of construction away. When it was released, the Suzuki cost a moderate 11,590 marks, which should have made the decision of many new buyers easier, because for the money they got a timeless, simple motorcycle with a decent chassis and a reliable four-cylinder.
Technical changes within the construction period? Nothing. In 1999 and 2000, the standard GSX-750 was the special edition to support the
but only differed by an accessory cockpit fairing. In autumn 2000 the last models (built in 2001) rolled off the production line, accordingly
From then on, the colors didn’t even change. In the following years 2002 and 2003
The GSX 750 was still officially in the program, in 2004 there were only a few new vehicles for sale at dealerships, according to the manufacturer a total of around 60 to 70 units in Germany.
As a stopgap in the middle class, the 750 did not cut a bad figure within the Suzuki family. After all, she appealed to a class of buyers somewhere between beginners and displacement macho. To continue offering them on the market too
the Japanese would have had to completely redesign the motorcycle with regard to current homologation requirements (exhaust gas, noise). But instead of investing in a further development of the 750 series, they preferred to concentrate on the Bandit, which was heavily revised for 2005 and with a displacement of 650 cm3 that is no longer so small.
Market situation
The range of used GSX 750 is not huge, but large ?? after all, there are still over 7000 pieces
approved in Germany. There are plenty of vehicles for sale from 1998 to 2000, prices are usually between 2500 and 3500 euros, and mileage between 10,000 and 30,000 kilometers. Models with an odometer reading of over 50,000 kilometers are often still in the hands of a loyal first owner. Accordingly rare, but wanted: used cars under 2000 euros.
As good as new models with first registration in 2002 or 2003 and mileage under 10,000 kilometers are just as rare, but the few are much more difficult to sell. Brand new mid-range bikes such as a Honda CBF 600 or Kawasaki ZR-7S are finally available for around 6500 euros, so it is difficult to charge more than 4000 euros for a used naked bike with similar performance. In addition, a Bandit 1200 with a comparable mileage hardly costs more than the 750.
Private and commercial offers are roughly in balance. Many dealers sell the GSX 750 hardly more expensive than private sellers, because the latter apparently often do not realistically assess the value of their motorcycle and therefore overestimate. Since commercial customers offer a real bonus due to the mandatory warranty, a comparison of private advertisements and dealer offers is definitely worthwhile.
sightseeing
Complete service booklet, tires as good as new, fresh chain sets or add-on parts such as progressive fork springs and engine protection bars ?? that’s how it gets really interesting for the GSX-750 prospect. Some drivers do not like the narrow original handlebar, which is why they have exchanged them for an accessory part (for example Lucas, phone 02631 / 912-0 or LSL, phone 02151 / 5559-0). This is also to be seen as a plus point for the buyer.
The year of construction is less decisive for the purchase due to the lack of a facelift on the part of the manufacturer, but solely the condition and mileage. So it’s better to take a neat 1998 with 15,000 Sunday driver kilometers than a 2000 with 25,000 everyday kilometers, even if both are equally expensive.
The solid four-cylinder achieves significantly higher mileage without complaint if the prescribed maintenance intervals are adhered to. Since the GSX is openly displaying its engine, it is easy to see whether oil is leaking anywhere. If the engine is not tight, hands off!
Steering head and swing arm bearings are more susceptible than the engine. The original ball bearings in the steering head, for example, are sometimes worn out after 15,000 kilometers. Experts then replace these weak points with more robust tapered roller bearings. Emil Schwarz, phone 07181/995290, has a gan-
zen conversion kit, consisting of precision bearings and sealing rings, in the program. “Then you have peace”, can be read at www.gsx-inazuma.org.
The Internet pages also describe other model-specific problems such as the rattling speedometer or rattling instruments. Practical: Probate antidotes against possible niggles are on there-
guided. With many tips on accessories, this private website is generally recommended for all fans of the GSX 750, not just for potential second-hand buyers.
