Suzuki GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R (!): Initial information
Unveiled last year at the Eicma show in Milan, the all-new 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 reveals its last secrets to us at the Intermot show in Cologne. Cachotière, Hamamatsu‘s Superbike arrives in two versions: with or without "R"… Explanations.
Page 1: Suzuki GSX-R1000 2017, 202 hp for 202 kg
Exhibited in the center of the Suzuki stand at the previous show, the GSX-R1000 has been featured on the official Suzuki France website for many months as a very successful "concept"! Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than others – have already been entitled to one of this novelty 2016-2017…
This year at the Intermot show in Cologne, the technological solutions used on the Suzuki Superbike are confirmed: valves mounted on pawls, variable timing, ride-by-wire accelerator, adjustable traction control and ABS … everything is there! Gex fans will delight in the detailed description of each of these points … and many others !
Finally unveiled, the technical values of the new GSX-R1000 put it back in the leading pack: its new 4-cylinder 999.8 cc (76 x 55.1 mm) develops 202 horsepower at 13,200 rpm . That’s 17 hp more than the old block of 999.1 cc (74.5 x 57.3) and an improved torque value of a small unit: 117.6 Nm against 116.7.
To take advantage of this phenomenal potential, the cycle part has been redesigned: if the wheelbase increases by 5 mm (1410 mm on the 2017 model), the swingarm is extended by 40 mm! What to open wide without fear of leaving in the sun? MNC can’t wait to test !
Thanks to the more compact and slightly upright engine, as well as the slightly closed caster angle (23.2 ° Vs 23.5 °), the new GSX-R1000 2017 also promises to be a weapon in the entries of curves. . Especially since the Suz ‘has lost 3 kg on the Suzuki scale: 202 kg with the ABS against 205 for the old "Gex" with a more generous size.
Although a kilogram heavier (203 kg therefore), the GSX-R1000R (surprise!) Should however appeal more to the French "païlotes". Like the concept unveiled last year, this more "Recingue" version of the GSX-R is adorned with finery … to discover on the next page.
