Yamaha R3 GYTR Word Supersport 300 test: pilot factory
A production Superbike gives access to the great thrill from 20,000 euros … Otherwise, Yamaha can also prepare a real racing bike for 12,000 euros, ready to participate in the Supersport 300 world championship ! Test of the YZF-R3 GTYR WSSP300.

Good little mouth. The R3 WSSP300 has a palpable sporty character with its poly fairings and war paint! Also note its false front optics (simple stickers!), Now mandatory in Mondial Superbike to create a relationship with production motorcycles. |
Domino’s pizzas. The Turin (Italy) manufacturer Domino takes care of the handles, the quick-draw accelerator and the jam lever. The rear controls and the brake lever guard come from Gilles Tooling. |
Akra song. The bike receives a complete Akrapovic line, Yamaha’s long-standing partner in competition, and its Racing GYTR parts catalog. This exhaust produces a superb sound with almost threatening rumblings ! |
Do not be your clip. It’s amazing how a few changes can transform braking! As much as the production R3 slows down a bit laboriously, its racing version slows down hell! Thank you for the thicker caliper from Brembo, the "Z04" racing pads and the braided hoses ! |
All that shines... is not Ohlins: While the fully adjustable shock comes from the Swedish manufacturer, the fork retains its original Kayaba 37mm sliders. On the other hand, inside, it is indeed Ohlins cartridges which favorably transfigure the front axle. ! |
M1 Style. The openwork upper yoke is original and that’s good, because this piece inspired by the MotoGP M1 is rewarding! Check out the stunning Ohlins fork caps and their multiple settings… |
Original table. The instrumentation is identical to that of the production R3. The breaker operates at 12,850 rpm, in accordance with WSSP300 regulations which also require Kawasaki and Honda to place the breaker on the Ninja 400 and CBR500RR at 12,000 rpm and 9500 rpm respectively (!) Due to their superior displacement. |
Motor kit. Engine preparation revolves around forged pistons with anti-friction treatment, specific intake and camshafts, a thinner cylinder head gasket and an FIM approved ECU control unit. This GYTR kit costs "900 euros". Then count "1300 €" for the Akrapovic line. |
