Stefan Kiefer, team manager and co-owner of the German racing team, passed away completely unexpectedly in the night from Thursday (October 26th) to Friday.

The Moto2 team Kiefer Racing reports:

Stefan Kiefer and the Kiefer Racing Team are currently in Malaysia, where the penultimate race of the season is taking place this weekend. The circumstances that led to the tragic event have not yet been clarified. With respect to the whole family and all other relatives, Kiefer Racing will not take part in the Malaysia Grand Prix.

Stefan Kiefer was an active racing driver himself and after finishing his career founded the racing team with his brother Jochen. Kiefer Racing has been an integral part of the motorcycle world championship since 2003. Stefan Kiefer was extremely popular in the entire paddock due to his always friendly and warm personality and is therefore sorely missed.

Stefan Kiefer leaves behind his girlfriend and a son. The entire Kiefer Racing Team expresses its sincere condolences to the bereaved.

The 51-year-old passed away in Sepang, Malaysia, where the MotoGP races of Moto2 and Moto3 will be held this weekend. Yesterday (Thursday, October 26th), according to his team, there were still no signs of any health problems.
