“I’m really sick of it that I wasn’t going back to racing at Suzuka for Kawasaki. After last year’s win – it was amazing, after all the emotions we had during the race! – I was really excited about the outlook for this year, especially the idea of teaming up with Alex Lowes and Xavi Fores. They are two good drivers and I thought we could really do a good job. We will not have the opportunity to defend our title , but everyone’s health and safety is most important during this global crisis. Our ambitions at Suzuka will be on standby until 2021 and I am very sorry for the fans – especially the Japanese spectators who come to see us every day. year. But I clearly understand the reasons why the race has been called off and my thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by this global pandemic. I just hope everything can get back to normal as soon as possible. It is a fantastic race and it is a shame we do not can’t go this year to showcase the Kawasaki team.
