Executive power BOBO

In the Burgman family, I want…. the 125! The 125 is the smallest of the Suzuki scooters, but shares with its brothers an identical general line, with a noticeably less overweight. The S brand declined a new version in 2011 with an Executive… version. history of relaunching a model that has changed little or no since the electronic injection version of 2007. So old pot? or model that has nothing to envy to the latest news ?

Discovery

Solid rear, plunging nose and small wheels are the common denominators of the Burgman family and the 125 does not cut it. The Executive version of the test is distinguished by a mat black color with beautiful metallic reflections of the most beautiful effect, counters with white backgrounds, a totally red rear light, a bluish front optic, a smoked bubble with adjustable windscreen in height , a saddle stitched with red and black fork sleeves and rims.

It’s beautiful, sober, and cheap … since you only have to add 200 euros compared to the base model for a scooter, on the other hand, a thousand euros cheaper than competing Japanese models.

In the saddle

Pleasant surprise compared to many scooters 125, the pilot with small legs puts his feet on the ground very well, without having to put himself in the end of the saddle. When a driver is on tiptoe on an Xmax, here we are naturally flat. Thin saddle and saddle height of only 735 mm explain this ease..

The handlebars are quite close and low. The whole thing makes it easy to perform maneuvers at a standstill, and in particular rear steps with the feet, without being afraid of falling, especially with a weight of only 148 kilos, it is about one of the lightest scoots in the category.

The low Contratio saddle leads to a sitting position where the legs are a little raised: no worries for small builders. On the other hand, adults may feel cramped.

Under the eyes, we discover a clearly readable dashboard with a huge central meter framed by a temperature indicator on the left and a fuel gauge on the right. The central meter also houses a mini LED indicator for the clock or the partial trip (your choice).

The commodos are standard and we regret just two absences: the warnings and especially a parking brake. Be careful not to park on a slope, even gentle !

We find on the right a keyless storage compartment accepting a cell phone and some trinkets and on the left…. nothing or rather a simple access hatch to the oil tank. Underneath, a large storage compartment – which locks with a key – can accommodate a few pocket books, or even connect your laptop to the 12V socket.

Note the protection of the lock, which makes it possible to hide the lock via a hatch, simply by using the back of the ignition key.

Contact

Brake, contact…. the single cylinder snorts without parasitic vibrations or almost noise. Everything is cozy and does not risk waking the neighbors at night by putting everything away in an interior courtyard. 4T, injection, liquid cooling, the scooter incorporates the latest technologies. We hear the quality, far from the rattling noises of some competing models. Everything is discreet, almost flattering.

Suzuki Burgman 125 in town

In the city

The 125 Burgman takes its turns and dashes off almost briskly if you flip the knob, the variator pushing without realizing it to over 80 km / h. It is therefore necessary to let go of the handle to return to a legal speed. The times are dynamic, especially with regard to the displacement. There are, however, "only" 12.4 horsepower and 1 mkg of torque, far removed from large scooters, but it is efficient.

When playing from a standing start, the Burgman easily grills the other 125s. Its grip is obvious, in particular thanks to an excellent balance, a low weight, and its ideal position between the saddle and the handlebars. No ABS, but coupled braking (front-rear) which is very reassuring on a daily basis. Even if the brakes are set violently, the scooter does not level off and stops quickly and well.
Narrow, it then sneaks easily between the cars.

Highway

The Burgman dashes dynamically up to 110 km / h then nibbles km / h after km / h to reach 115 km / h, or even 120 km / h in slight descent (or even launched a good 125 km / h). h counter, i.e. 120 km / h real). Its behavior then remains particularly healthy, without parasitic wiggling, in particular on the road joints. This excellent top speed for a 125 allows it to really consider the peri-urban journey, if not a little more and all in a pleasant way. At this speed, the bubble effectively deflects the wind and generates no pressure or parasitic vibration on the helmet. On the other hand, if the extension is there, overtaking beyond 90 km / h is to be avoided because it is too slow.

Braking

The Burgman does not have ABS but has front-to-rear coupled braking that provides excellent day-to-day safety. The feeling of the brakes is good, as well as the progressiveness. The whole thing makes it possible to stop both quickly and well, smoothly and without parasitic behavior of the scooter.

Duo / Comfort

The rider’s saddle is wide and long, making it easy to find your place, with your feet more or less forward. The passenger seat is also wide and offers two large gripping handles. If the engine suffers a little from additional weight, the passenger, not too high up, does not generate any particular sway as can be seen on other models.

If the saddle is comfortable, the suspensions are rather firm from the outset. Suddenly, if the scooter gains in handling, it loses in comfort, making you feel the holes and deformed pavements, with an apparent lack of damping.

Consumption

The Burgman is quite voracious in gasoline, especially in the game of standing starts, handle in the corner with a consumption of 4.5 liters / cent. On the other hand, its 11-liter tank allows an average range of 250 kilometers. The slightly misleading gauge only starts to move from 50 kilometers, to arrive at the center at 150 km. The red zone begins to be titillated from 200 km.

Convenient

The trunk is a real and huge hold, closer to the storage of large scooters than 125. It can accommodate 2 helmets and still leaves a little room for a rain suit and a small lock. It is therefore one of the most spacious in the category. A small light illuminates the interior, convenient for doing business in a dimly lit garage.

A U-lock is easily placed on the front wheel between the spokes.

The central stand is easy and effortless: ideal for featherweight and a reason to always wedge the scooter on its central; even if the lateral is practical and well thought out on a daily basis.

Conclusion

Urban look, plush and bohemian style, ease of driving, the Burgman 125 offers all the advantages of a good scooter in addition to reliable mechanics that have largely proven themselves. The icing on the cake, the scooter can be traded in promotion for only 3,290 euros, which is among the lowest prices on the market and without any sacrifice. In short, far from sports scooters or with a djeun’s look, the Burgman is a real choice for the commuter frame which will also have the advantage of not being stolen as much as other more popular models: more than an alternative not expensive, a real choice which explains its current success in the category.
