In fact, the Suzuki DR 650 is still sold new in Australia.

A perfect basis for a scrambler conversion. Also because all parts are still clean and there is no dirt hanging anywhere.

Suzuki DR 650: cult enduro becomes a scrambler
Suzuki DR 650 conversion
Cult enduro is becoming a scrambler in Australia
The custom forge Ellaspede is based in Brisbane, Australia. And they produce finely drivable vehicles on the assembly line. The newest piece is a brand new Suzuki DR 650.

Characteristics: Suzuki DR 650, Year of construction 2020, kilometer 0, factory warranty. In Australia it is possible. There Suzuki sells the fine driving school stew – biographical of the author – still with carburettor and without ABS. For the more discerning among us, the 600 and 750 super sports bikes are sold there, as well as the 400 DR-Z single or the 1,800 twin of the old Intruder.
Ellaspede DR scrambler
Let’s start at the bottom. The aim is to build a fancy scrambler from the DR for Ellaspede. The original wheel hubs are newly spoked and now have a 19 inch Excel rim at the front and a slightly wider 18 inch rim from the same manufacturer at the rear. For flowing lines, the Australians lower the fork and the rear by a good four centimeters and remove the original Suzuki bellows at the same time. The characteristic lamp mask and the cockpit it contains are replaced by a bottom-mounted LED headlight and a Daytona combination speedometer.

Refuel like Yamaha
Behind it, the slightly adapted tank stretches out Yamaha SR 400, which explains the writing on it. At the rear, the colleagues from Ellaspede dig a little deeper into the material: The Flex completely separates the passenger seat from the frame and is replaced by a loop. The elimination of the airbox creates space for the electrics and the battery of the DR. The new Mikuni TM42 carburetor breathes through an open K&N-cylinder on and the engine out through a tight muffler.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.
Better to leave it in its original condition.
Conclusion
Under the radiant Southern Cross, new-old Suzuki models from Ellaspede are being optically converted as classically in Australia as the DR 650 is almost technically. The biggest advantage of an old motorcycle that comes off the production line: Everything is still clean when it is converted and, in the best of cases, it is still clean later.
Ellaspede probably gets the best out of old Suzi with comparatively little effort: a chic, fine scrambler. Advance Australia fair!
