Limited edition for the 100th company anniversary

Suzuki is celebrating 100 years of company anniversary with a special model of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 R. 60 of them are rolling to Germany.

For the German market, Suzuki’s Superbike flagship is limited to 60 pieces in the special edition for the company’s 100th anniversary. The anniversary Gixxer rolls out with the same retro paintwork as the GSX-RR MotoGP machines. The traditional blue and silver color scheme is said to refer to Suzuki’s Grand Prix bikes from the 1960s.

The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 R not only has the optics in common with the MotoGP factory racers. It also uses the same variable valve timing system to increase torque and peak power. It also has a comprehensive electronics package: 10-stage traction control, launch control and cornering ABS are on board. Thanks to the Quickshifter, it is also possible to upshift without using the clutch lever, while the blipper function ensures the right double-declutching when downshifting and therefore the clutch lever does not have to be operated for this either.

100 years of Suzuki Motor Corporation

In 1909 Michio Suzuki founded his company in Hamamatsu "Suzuki Loom Works", which on March 15, 1920 in the "Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Company" is converted. The company started production with looms, but launched their first motorcycle in 1954. Since then, several iconic motorcycles have been produced, such as the GSX-R series with the GSX-R 750 F from 1985 and the GSX-R 1000 K1 from 2001 as well as the GT 750, the GSX 1100 S Katana and the RGV 250.

Jurgen Weidmann, General Manager Sales Motorcycle, Suzuki Deutschland GmbH, says: "In memory of the Grand Prix successes of the 1960s, we are offering a limited edition of 60 vehicles in Germany. This gives our customers a unique opportunity to own a special part of Suzuki history. The GSX-R series, and especially the 1000 series, have long been the flagship sport bike with an impressive history both on the road and on the racetrack. To mark the 100th anniversary of Suzuki, the retro-inspired paintwork of the motorcycles that has contributed so much to our history has been adopted."

Suzuki wants to communicate the price for the anniversary edition of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 R soon.

The French importer will summarize the anniversary in June 2020

Suzuki can look back on an impressive history – not only because it goes back 100 years, but because the manufacturer developed many legendary models. We hope that not only is the view of the past rosy, but that the view ahead will soon be shaped again by new, successful developments.
