Suzuki V-Strom 250 at EICMA 2016

"I call it R-stream"

The new Suzuki V-Strom 250 doesn’t come with a V-engine, but with an in-line two-cylinder, which is why my colleague Ralf Schneider said: "I call it R-stream"

An in-line two-cylinder is cheaper and lighter than a V2 – so it makes sense in the 250 class not to rely on a V2. And why should small motorcycles only copy the big 1000 sisters in their little athletic clothes when the more touring models are much more popular? So now comes the Suzuki V-Electricity 250 for the very young motorcyclists and beginners.

Suzuki V-Strom 250 with around 25 hp

Comfortable seating position, proper wind protection, low seat height, devices for the top case and side case – the Suzuki V-Strom 250 aims to be an attractive option for city traffic and touring.

On the engine side, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 should primarily provide its power in the lower and medium speed range. The 248 cm³ in-line two-cylinder engine develops 25 hp (18.4 kW) and provides 23.4 Nm at 6,500 rpm. For the range, Suzuki specifies over 500 kilometers (!) – that is not entirely unrealistic with a 17-liter tank. Euro 4 standards are met, a 12-volt socket is on board, the aluminum luggage rack can carry loads of up to 8.5 kilograms.
