This little SVS 650 bitch had quietly bowed out in 2010. Not that Suzuki had stopped the model; it just wasn’t imported to France anymore. 2015 sees the return of a fun motorcycle that gives a taste of sport with lots of sugar. The SV was a hell of a great success in the early 2000s, with a lively engine, a pleasant character, an easy to handle chassis, a very well placed price and immediate pleasure. Phase 2, which still officiates today, demonstrated sharp angles, both on the frame and in the silhouette. To mark its return, the 650 SVS does not advance any changes or shock colors. Discretion is the order of the day, with a sober and unique black color, and a price close to daisies.

Faced with the armada of well-established MT-07, ER-6, Z 800, MT-09, 675 Street Triple roadsters (and the list goes on), the SV 650 S will have to rebuild its reputation. Don’t be fooled by the simple outfit from the previous decade. This Suzuki is a real toy, with nice sporty pretensions. We lower the wrists to the half-handlebars, but these are not too low and do not break the arms, even after a long journey. The twin is cheerful, powerful enough to have fun, responds with glee and enjoys climbing towers. The intuitive chassis quickly admits its limits because of a too flexible damping, planned for the ride and not too much for the arsouille. No radial calipers or an army of pistons. Not serious ; 290mm rotors bitten by 2 piston pliers are efficient enough for any use. The agility of setting, the discreet sound – but deliciously impactful with a pot that breathes -, the comfort of the passenger worthy of a sportswoman, and the omnipresent desire to laugh. A machine to rediscover.
