In 2019 the SWM Six Days 440 to the dealerships with its air-cooled Euro 4 single-cylinder, in 2020 it was then suspended. With the first batch, the importer wanted to see if there was any demand for the A2-compatible motorcycle. And yes, there are enough interested parties, which is why the successor SWM Six Days 500 is rolling out with the Euro 5-compatible engine and continues to follow the tried and tested recipe: engine from China, style from Italy.

Air-cooled Euro 5 stew

The target group targeted by the SWM Six Days was aptly described by MOTORRAD editor Thorsten Dentges in the MOTORRAD catalog 2020: “Young hipsters and newcomers to the A2 driving license who like the retro charm of the relatively light (around 150 kilos) and easy-to-handle stews. Bellows on the fork, lamp mask and two raised silencers under the classically ribbed bench give the SWM Six Days a certain coolness.” That applied to the 440s and that doesn’t change for the 500s either.

The SWM Six Days 500 takes over the air-cooled 445 cm³ single-cylinder from its predecessor, which is now Euro 5-compliant. To do this, it had to lose a bit of power: instead of 30 hp at 7,000 rpm, there are now 27 hp at 6,000 rpm. And there are also compromises in terms of torque: Instead of the previous 36 Nm at 5,500 rpm, the stew now pushes 33 Nm at 4,750 rpm.

Is there anything more? Yes, from the market launch in mid-March 2021, the SWM Six Days 500 will roll out in a new color – green. A gray version will also be available in stores around the middle of the year. Price including additional costs: 5,499 euros.

Conclusion

After a one-year break, the SWM Six Days is coming back to the German market with a new name and old engine and continues to follow the recipe: engine from China, style from Italy.
