She’s cool, sexy, and extremely adult. Aprilia’s new 125cc Supermoto is eye-catching and one of the hottest numbers on the youth catwalk right now. How does the Italian Bella drive?

Fitness test: 90 centimeters have to be scaled. Whoever manages it without any problems has cleared the first hurdle. The second requires more effort: the 125 cubic single cylinder has to be brought to life with a kick starter. And it sits on the left side high up and is translated briefly. You have to step hard. Thank goodness the engine usually starts after the first two or three kicks. In a hot state, however, it sometimes takes twice as many. This may seem anachronistic to some in times when feather-light crossers are started at the push of a button. But it could even set a trend: Because this extravagance goes perfectly with piercings and tattoos.

So then: pull the choke, kick, and the slender rear silencer starts to squeak. Yes, squawks, you read that right. Two-stroke. A new biscuit saw in the age of Euro 3. This is made possible by an electronic carburetor control, in which a potentiometer regulates the optimal interaction between the throttle slide and the ignition point. In conjunction with the U-Kat and the secondary air system, this should guarantee clean combustion. Driving a 125cc has seldom been so much fun. Why? 125 kilograms with a full tank, a first-class ambience ?? Footrests and handlebars are in the right place, the hand levers are optimally placed, the waist is extremely narrow, the seat is firmly integrated into the vehicle. Everything just fits. In addition, the SX is of high quality. The spring elements with their enormous spring travel of 260 millimeters at the front and 270 at the rear are quite soft. Small disadvantage: If the driving style is tough, there is a lot of movement in the chassis. Advantage: Anyone who carries at least 80 kilograms on the scales compresses the enormous spring travel so that the seat height shrinks to 82 centimeters.

Still: The new one SX 125 exudes race feeling from the first meter. It obeys every small steering movement without appearing fidgety and can be directed precisely. The gears slide precisely, coupling is child’s play. Brakes as well. Both the front and rear stoppers are extremely easy to dose, they slow down brutally if necessary. The SX 125 has no straight-line problems, can be angled until the doctor comes, and even lights the driver home safely at night. Aprilia has put together a well thought-out, cool package. A package that impresses even committed motorcyclists with 22 hp. The mix of performance, formidable handling and low weight enables optimal city surfing. Because it is built for jumping gaps and the tightest corners. Long stages, on the other hand, are not their forte. After an hour of continuous driving at the latest on the hard, narrow bench seat, it hurts the worst. And the vibrations in the upper third of the speed are annoying in the long run. On the other hand, the 22 hp version of the 125 cc hangs quite well on the gas, is easy to turn and has a powerful effect across the entire speed range. The throttling to 15 HP and a maximum of 80 km / h is carried out using a kit from Alpha-Technik (www. Alphatechnik.de): black box and main jet are exchanged. This conversion costs 289 euros, which the 16-year-olds have to add to the proud base price of 4299 euros.
