With a market share of 22.2 percent, BMW tops the list of the most popular motorcycle manufacturers in Germany again in 2019, claiming almost twice as large a piece of the pie as the second-placed manufacturer KTM. The Austrians are certainly celebrating anyway, as they climb from fourth place (2018) past Honda and Kawasaki to second place. Yamaha still ranks fifth and Harley-Davidson sixth. All five are close together: KTM with 11.6 percent market share, Honda with 11.5 percent, Kawasaki with 11.3 percent, Yamaha with 10.2 percent and Harley-Davidson with 9.1 percent market share.
Expressed in absolute numbers, it looks like this:
- BMW: 24,872 new registrations
- KTM: 13,036 new registrations
- Honda: 12,928 new registrations
- Kawasaki: 12,694 new registrations
- Yamaha: 11,473 new registrations
- Harley-Davidson: 10,193 new registrations
After that, nothing comes for a long time until Suzuki, with a market share of 4.8 percent, leads the manufacturers with significantly fewer new registrations in seventh place. Ducati is only a few units behind with a market share of 4.6 percent, closely followed by Triumph with 4.4 percent. With 2.6 percent, Husqvarna has chosen the top ten most popular motorcycle manufacturers in Germany for 2019.
11th to 20th place of the most popular brands
Royal Enfield displaces Aprilia from eleventh to twelfth place, Moto Guzzi climbed two places from 15 to 13, while Indian slipped two places (from 12 to 14), as did Betamotor (from 13 to 15), while Benelli climbed to 16th place Holds place, SWM on 17th and MV Agusta on 18th place. Fantic Motor joins the top 20 in 19th place and displaces Zero to last place, which in turn means farewell to the top 20 of the most popular motorcycle brands for Gas Gas.
