The flagship of the trail range
Bigomme front and rear, MS-Belt, 16 sizes
Three years after the launch of its Battlax Adventure A40, Bridgestone is upgrading its trail tires with the new Battlax Adventure A41.
Continuing to improve its tires in this segment, the Japanese manufacturer intends here to offer a tire capable of being used over the entire range of use of trails.. On the program, the brand promises an evolution of performance on dry roads, but also and especially on wet roads, without compromising longevity. Bridgestone also aims to improve tire responsiveness and feedback, as well as cornering and high-speed stability..
To do this, the brand adopts a new profile intended to optimize the contact surface and the distribution of pressure and uses 3LC multilayer technology for this, switches to the bigomme on the front and rear and revises the structure of the its tire for better evacuation of water and deformation of the paving stones.
Technical
Drawings
Thus, the design of the tires evolves strongly. At the front, the notch rate has been increased on the sidewalls, but reduced on the tread. These modifications improve water drainage while maintaining the balance between tire deformation and stiffness. At the rear, the notch is now more important in the central part which nevertheless sports large cobblestones. The angle of the sculptures has also been revised to improve water drainage.
Carcass
The very structure of the tire is also changing significantly with the adoption of a single-spiral belt (MS-Belt) and an HTSPC casing to improve tire feel and high-speed stability..
Compounds
The composition of the gums uses a 3LC bigomme at the front and at the rear in Cap & Base configuration. Very rich in silica to facilitate temperature rise and therefore grip in cold conditions, the rubber retains its resistance to wear through the use of different polymers.
Finally, the Ultimate Eye analysis makes it possible to highlight the gains in terms of contact with + 5% of surface in contact with the ground and + 9% of the coefficient of friction in wet weather. During tests carried out at its test center, the brand also noted an average decrease of 8% in the times achieved on wet roads..
In comparison with the A40, the Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A41 thus progresses in all areas without exception. Only the longevity of the tire does not improve, but Bridgestone ensures that it remains at the same level, despite the various developments in terms of grip..
Daily test
What better way to test than to ride it for several months? So, we mounted the Adventure 41 on a Kawasaki Versys 1000. The first impression is that the tires have completely changed the feeling of the bike, compared to the original fit, also in Bridgestone. But with the original equipment, the trail was still a little clumsy, lacking in agility and precision, especially in force. After several thousand kilometers, I put this behavior related to the heaviness of the motorcycle. On the other hand, I avoided taking too much angle.
Tire change has transformed the machine with new ease and precision when cornering. The roundabouts have become toys with a real pleasure to take the angle. And this is the major point or the contribution of the Adventure A41 which offers a more maneuverable machine with more precise control of the trajectories..
On the braking side, the grip is excellent in the dry and good in the wet, without ever having caught me at fault..
In short, an excellent choice !
