Bridgestone is upgrading its Sport-Touring tire range with a new Battlax Sport Touring T31 which becomes the flagship of the brand in this segment two years after the release of the T30 Evo.

Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring T31

The Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring T31 joins the manufacturer’s touring range alongside the T30 Evo and BT-023 still on the market. The T31 is mainly intended for large displacement machines.

As with the new A41 trail tire, the Japanese manufacturer is carrying out an in-depth review of its tire here with the objective of improving overall performance in terms of handling and grip, more particularly on wet roads, to maintain good reactivity, to offer more neutrality and to increase the forces of the angle of curvature without sacrificing the qualities of longevity. To achieve this result, the brand has adopted a design, improved the contact zone on the ground and integrated a new compound developed thanks to research carried out at the molecular level..

Visible part of the tire, the designs evolve here with the aim of improving water evacuation while maintaining the balance of the rigidity and the deformation capacity of the front tire. Thus, the rate of notching increases on the sides and is very clearly reduced in the central part compared to the T30 Evo. Also in this perspective, the grooving of the tread sees its more pronounced angulation. At the back, the same operation is applied.

The designs are totally different from the T30 Evo

With its better evacuation, the T31 provides better grip on wet roads. The arrangement of the grooves also makes it possible to maintain good rigidity in order to maintain stability and reduce braking distances. The angle grip is also more important.

Compounds

But if the structure is based on a known basis, the composition of the gum changes significantly. The rear thus passes on a new bigomme (multilayer 3LC) with a Cap & Base structure, thus ensuring the compromise between grip and stability on the angle. But the front abandons its monogum for a bigomme in its turn. The compound is completely renewed since, thanks to its research at the molecular level, the manufacturer has succeeded in optimizing the dispersion of the silica to improve the flexibility of the rubber and therefore ensure better grip..

The front tire now goes on bigomme

Carcass

The carcass of the Bridgestone tire retains its MS-Belt single-spiral belt in order to maintain the same level of stability and feel as on the T30 Evo. The new construction also ensures a larger contact surface, up to 7% more, from the tread to the maximum incline..

Ground contact area increases by up to 7%

Finally, the Ultimate Eye technology shows that the grip surface widens and that the coefficient of friction increases by 3% on wet ground. In tests carried out at its test centers, the T31 posted lap times 3% faster than the T30Evo in the wet.

The T31 differs from the T30 Evo by its wet capabilities

Compared to its predecessor, the Battlax Sport Touring T31 thus displays the same level of performance in the dry while being slightly more maneuverable. On the other hand, it progresses on all fronts as soon as the rain appears. Announced with an equivalent longevity, the T31 is therefore presented with a wider use than its predecessor, which remains in the range, especially as it is available in no less than 22 dimensions.

With 22 sizes available, the T31 is suitable for a wide range of machines
