BMW R9X for Enduro rally

Touratech will compete in the Red Bull Romaniacs with a converted BMW R nineT. The R9X will be the first two-cylinder to contest what is considered to be extremely tough rally.

Gerhard Forster will compete in the Iron class with the R9X. Touratech relies on a very experienced driver here; Forster has already made it into the top ten at the Red Bull Romaniacs five times. From July 25th to 29th, he will now cover the 600-kilometer route with the two-cylinder.

Gerhard Forster with R9X in the Iron class

The Touratech team has been competing in enduro competitions with heavy motorcycles for ten years now: starting with a converted BMW F 650 GS that was used in the 24-hour race in Torgau, through the Husqvarna Nuda at the Erzbergrodeo, and ending with the Honda class win Africa Twin at last year’s Hellas Rally. In addition to the marketing effect, racing also serves to test new developments: "What has proven itself in tough sporting use can easily master everything else."

In the Iron Class, Gerhard Forster competes against New Zealander Chris Birch, among others. Birch will contest the rally for the first time on a KTM 1090 Adventure R. How the motorcycles, which are unusual in this field, will fare is eagerly awaited.
