Originally from Stockton on Tees, in the north-east of England, Daley Mathison started TT in 2013. Entered by the Penz13 team, he started his 19th TT race on Monday morning, 19th on the grid on the handlebars of his BMW n ° 19 … He is the 257th driver to lose his life in the Tourist Trophy.

"ACU Events Ltd regrets to confirm that Daley Mathison was killed in an accident during the Superbike race on the Isle of Man," said the organizer of the TT races, adding that the crash took place "at Snugborough in the third lap, after a little over 2 miles (3 km) ".

Daley Mathison started TT races with the Manx Grand Prix in 2013. Ranked 5th at the finish line, he was then on the podium three years in a row at the TT Zero (electric motorcycle racing) in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He also finished 11th in the Superstock race last year and twice 13th in the Senior TT race in 2017 and 2018. He had started 19 races in the Tourist Trophy, reaching the finish 14 times with 3 podiums, 6 silver medals and 8 bronze medals.

His 128,054 mph (206 km / h) time during the 2018 Mountain Course earned him the 34th fastest rider of all time. He also had the second fastest time at the 2018 TT Zero at a speed of 119.294 mph (191.5 km / h).

"We are deeply upset to learn that our pilot Daley Mathison lost his life on the Isle of Man," said German team Penz13, sending condolences to his wife and daughter. "Daley was an exceptional person who brought a lot to our team. He will be sorely missed.".
