Voila, we are at the top of the trail / touring range of Triumph. The Tiger Explorer is here in true Lord of the road. Over-equipped, advocating the abundance of on-board assistance and comfort elements, the XRt puts forward arguments in all directions: a large 3-cylinder 139 horsepower and more than 12 mkg of torque, a quality chassis, a claim to travel worthy of a sedan and an allure of English rock.
T for Touring? The XRx already fulfills the function well, with its TSAS controlled suspensions, its 3 driving modes, cruise control, active ABS in bends, heated grips, etc … Triumph thinks that an Explorer even more upscale to its place at the top of the range. It must be said that advances in electronics have made it possible to develop many small amenities.
This is how the Explorer XRt adds practicality and pomp to its bag. It is up to everyone to choose in which category to classify the added elements which are: the higher screen, the tire monitoring system, the support plates for the optional cases, hill start aid, engine protection bars, heated rider and passenger seats, and additional riding modes. On the XR, there are two modes, ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’. The XRx adds the ‘Off-Road’, more excursion-style.
To this, the XRt is refined with the ‘Sport’ and ‘Rider Configurable’. The former will ensure maximum use of the engine by providing a more direct response from the throttle control. The ABS setting will ensure optimum braking on paved roads. The ‘Sport’ configuration will increase the slip of the rear wheel compared to the Road mode, to provide a more dynamic ride. TSAS will provide firmer compression to tackle the twistiest roads.
As for the ‘Configurable Rider’, it will simply allow the pilot to adjust everything, in order to program HIS driving mode..
Thus adorned, the Tiger Explorer XRt does not need much, except a pair of bunkers. The plethora of equipment comes in the form of an increase of 10 kilos compared to the basic version and a substantial budget extension … And yet less bloody than in some competitors. All in a finely suggested English atmosphere. If Jaguar had designed a motorcycle, it most likely would have looked like this.
