Triumph Tiger 900 GT 2020

The Triumph Tiger has new ambitions. Become THE mid-size trail. The one you want, the one you think of when you are interested in the field, with the right dose of seduction and superiority. A property more than a motorcycle, with a strong identity. A generation slips away to leave the roads to a 900 calibrated for wingspan. If it is positioned as a mid-range, the Tiger GT nevertheless advances arguments of a more generous invoice than this rank.

Redesigned in a more successful style, more seductive and more dynamic, the Tiger exudes a more pleasant look than the XRx. His more tense gaze and the adoption of a real “duckbill” have a lot to do with it. From the dressing to the wheels, it’s a total overhaul to be more conqueror.

The Tiger 900 GT is equipped with a new frame, still a tubular steel trellis but with a new design and finished with a bolted aluminum rear frame, therefore removable. The swingarm is redesigned, the cooling improved, the weight cut by 6 kilos, the ergonomics retouched and the engine inflated.
With 88 cm3 more, it can proudly display its name of 900, the promise of increased efficiency. The torque gain is notable, 10%, while the power curve is thickened by up to 9% over the entire rev range. The maximum, however, remains at 95 horsepower. Thus, the Tiger 900 GT can receive a clamp for A2 licenses.

By virtue of its “intermediate” grade in the hierarchy of the 900 Tiger, the GT is loaded with equipment to deserve its name. ABS and traction control, already present on the basic version, here become responsive when cornering thanks to the presence of an IMU inertial unit. The TFT screen changes to a diagonal of 7 inches (17.8 cm), which will allow you to better appreciate the onboard information, including the Riding Modes. There are four of them, identified according to the Road, Sport, Off-Road and Rain ordinances. Tech ‘also signals its presence with a cruise control, a 5-volt USB socket located in a dedicated cell phone slot, a daytime signature and LED flashers..

Triumph 900 Tiger GT The rolls-always and every day will be more sensitive to other arguments. On a variety of occasions, heated grips and hand guards can quickly become your best friends. And to further improve the picture, the Marzocchi suspensions offer both front and rear multiple adjustment possibilities, in rebound and preload..

A serious package, resulting in a much more valued road trend, an overload of 2 kilos (194 kg dry) and a consequent inflation. Triumph maintains its premium image and makes it understood.
All this is in addition to the basic equipment, including a saddle adjustable to two heights, a Brembo Stylema braking of very good execution, a damping with ample displacement of 180 mm front and 170 mm rear, an anti-dribble clutch and a tank whose capacity has been increased to 20 liters.

The trail Triumph Tiger 900 GT is also more glamorous with a choice of colors less anonymous than the entry-level brother. More valuable, it is also less democratic. Its price will be close or even similar to that of a 1050 V-strom, a 1000 Versys or a 1200 Super Tenere. This will seem overkill to some; maybe also for others. Rightly or wrongly … the debate can still be fueled by the GT Pro version, intended for those wanting an over-equipped version such as a butter and lard toast.

P.S .: This Tiger 900 GT is also available in a lowered LRH version. The suspensions are reconfigured and lose travel, going down 40mm at the front and 19mm at the rear. The saddle height then drops to 760 mm, which can also be set to 780 mm. For an identical price.
