Triumph 1050 SPRINT GT 2011

The wind has picked up again on the British coasts. Squalls coming from the North Sea, lashing helmets and smashing foam on the rocks. You have to go see that; but on leaving Hinckley, would our passengers in the Sprint 1050 have strayed into the castles of Scotland, where ghosts abound? ? Would they have crossed the spirit of a last generation Trophy, by seizing its virtues of travelers? Still, as it approached the odds, the Triumph sport-GT has changed its facies, its pace, its pretensions. A new roadster has moved into the range of the Breton manufacturer. Here is the 1050 Sprint GT.

A new road cruiser ready to shoot like an arrow across Europe? The long-awaited worthy descendant of the 900 and 1200 Trophy? No, this new Sprint GT does not come to play in the Grand Touring yard where the Pan-Europeans and other R 1200 RTs roll. Rather, it looks like a more travel-oriented version of the ST. From the latter, she recovers all the technique by slightly changing the plastic. Finished the look of Star Trek and its 3 disturbing eyes. The new optical unit with multiple reflectors becomes more conventional while keeping this family resemblance, with slight recesses subtly inspired by the Daytona 675. It is not the slightly retouched fairing panels that will cause astonishment…. rather what happened below the new tail light: the triple tailpipe is gone. Eh yes ; to protect the passenger’s buttocks from heat fumes, Triumph turned the pot under the seat to return to the conventional solution of the side exhaust. Suddenly, the superb rim mounted on single-sided is masked by the acoustic blunderbuss. This still allows you to fit a storage space under the saddle..
To justify its GT designation, this Sprint was originally fitted with a high screen, ABS as standard and a set of side cases of 31 liters each. The manufacturer has also fitted it with a luggage rack and a top-case support, to accommodate a trunk (optional) behind the back capable of carrying 2 helmets and recharging your phone or MP3 player..

If the Sprint GT is meant to be a traveler while remaining playful, it is trying its hand at a difficult exercise. Its quality chassis and engine encourage you to have fun. In fact, the latter gained some horsepower and torque, increasing his availability at mid-range. But to cut the road, the Sprint does not seem to have the protection worthy of the name, which you can find on a real GT. No cardan transmission, no adjustable bubble…. This new Sprint GT seems more destined to cross country at a lively pace rather than to cross borders at senatorial pace.

How about a little video to see the genesis of this new Triumph 1050 Srint GT ->
