Triumph 1050 Tiger 2009

This famous slogan (illustrated by Peugeot in the 90s) perfectly sums up the philosophy of the new Tiger. 3rd and penultimate model to be equipped with the big 1050 cm3 3-cylinder, the trail of Hinckley takes advantage of its new berlingot to redo its face… and everything else with !

Big quality trail but shunned by the public, the Tiger 955i could afford to take risks. Besides, isn’t it a vocation for a trail to get off the beaten track?…?!?
And he does. SPORT ! This is the central idea of the new “Tiger” from Triumph. The silhouette exudes without restraint this trait of character, from the “mandible” fork head to the fire garnished with LEDs. The adornment of the motorcycle quickly puts you in doubt: is it still a road trail or is it a beast to arsouille? Judge rather: 115 hp in the vilo, 17-inch rims shod in 120 and 180, tires not really mixed, an inverted fork with radial brake calipers, an aluminum reinforced swingarm (from the Daytona 675), a bleeding look, a separate jar of brake fluid, no more handguards on the handlebars, a tightened suspension travel … It seems that the Tiger has given up on Varadero hunting to go wriggle on the side of Multistrada and other big road supermotards. I’m exaggerating? But even the tank is 4 liters less. Autonomy will not gain.

But let’s take into account the 17 kg less dry (it’s huge), the 10 horses and the torque gained, the chassis really optimized, and you have between the pognes a sacred beautiful toy. Perhaps still too marginal, especially to fight against the R 1200 GS, but certainly more intoxicating than the previous version (which however did not demerit). The charm and the ardor of the Tri-legs, certainly mellowed on this model, have enough arguments to slap many competitors. Except maybe Benelli’s villain 1130…

Let’s not catalog the machine too quickly among the clan of fun and frivolous machines. Triumph is keen on the reputation and performance of its big cat. The plant enthusiastically announces road capacities to match; the list of options and accessories confirms this. Some examples :

– 2 luggage kits
– 3 saddlebags
– Heated grips kit
– Comfort saddle
– Gel saddle – Pilot
– Gel seat – Passenger
– Special silencer
– Center stand (That’s a bit petty …)
– Auxiliary electricity outlet
– Front fender extension
– GPS connector .
