Visually a burner, technically a safe bank. Honda combines common sense and temperament in a wonderful way with the sporty 1000 series. This appeals to young wildsters and mature super sports drivers alike.

It comes off the assembly line in Atessa / Italy. The Honda was developed CB 1000 R also in Europe. Apparently it was recognized in the Far East that between Sicily and the North Cape, between Gibraltar and Budapest, the hearts of European riders beat for other motorcycles than purely rational machines. The CB 1000 R, presented for the first time in 2008, is, like many Honda, a machine without faults and faults. It drives well, does not break and fits all possible types and sizes of driver.

The four-cylinder has already proven itself in the 2007 Fireblade and the Tourer CBF 1000, and for the CB version it was trimmed for powerful torque from below with simultaneous speed yaw. This contrast works: the 125 hp are well presented, the engine hangs gently on the accelerator, the gears click precisely, the final gear ratio was chosen to be short and sporty. This promotes driving fun, and if you have to anchor after too large a portion of cockiness, the stoppers grip easily. Even without ABS, which will only be standard from the 2011 vintage.
In Germany, however, an overwhelming majority of new buyers have already decided in favor of the brake assistant – reason people. While more braking safety does not detract from the emotion, the mildly whispering sound from the unconventionally designed exhaust is only slightly stimulating. “Real” European women like Ducati Monster and Triumph Speed Triple can do that better. But then it doesn’t matter when you stand in front of the predatory Honda CB 1000 R: this single-sided swing arm, the beautiful wheels! This fine engine, proudly on display, amazing, bella, just gorgeous!

It is pretty – and also likes to be spruced up. With levers, handlebars, mini indicators or benches from established providers such as Bagster, LSL or Rizoma – all in all, this quickly adds up to a new value of more than 1500 euros, which can be credited proportionally to the used price if parts and attachment are tip top. Silencers for better sound (for example from Ixil or Laser), on the other hand, are more a matter of taste. Retrofit license plate holders, generally very popular, are often touted as a “short rear end” in some advertisements. Misleading, because instead of a Streetfighter conversion it is often just a cheap part of questionable origin purchased on the Internet. Note: Without ABS, a later resale is probably only about the price. At 24,000 kilometers, the Honda CB 1000 R has to undergo a major inspection, and if the chain is also due, everything costs a good 500 euros.
Market situation
Country of origin of this motorcycle: Italy. Main exporter of used machines of this model: also Italy. The low prices there prompt some retailers to go on a shopping spree south. Which is hardly worthwhile for private buyers, because cheap offers (often glossed over in the advertisements) turn out to be battered copies with serious defects. The Italo CBs offered by second-hand dealers in Germany have usually been properly checked, but often do not have ABS, which sometimes explains the low prices. But you can also find bargains in this country at private sellers: Some owners who are willing to change offer their Honda CB 1000 R again at the end of the warranty period in order to get money for another new machine, and are open to price negotiations. For used offers over 8,000 euros, please check the equivalent value (accessories, etc.) carefully and bear in mind that some dealers want to sell virgin (pre-) previous year’s machines with zero kilometers from 9,000 euros!

Small facelift for more youth: During the 2011 facelift, the front received a new position light with modern LED technology.
2008: Market launch, modified four-cylinder engine from the super sports car CBR 1000 RR (125 hp). Colors: green, black, silver, white. ABS optional (600 euros surcharge). Price: 10090 euros.
2010: Colors: special paintwork red (200 euros extra charge), black, white. Price: 10 690 euros.
2011: “Combined ABS” composite brake as standard, butted aluminum handlebars, revised lamp mask with LED position light, new tricolor color variant, golden rims. Colors: black, white and three-color special paint (100 euros surcharge). Price: 11,390 euros.
2012: new color silver. Price unchanged.
